Question Ipass Sticker location for 2018 GLC300

Ive received the new IPass stickers ( about 3/4"x2") from Illinois state ( these superseded the transponder box that used to be the option ) and these stickers apparently don't have any battery etc embedded, but once you stick it on your windshield..it stays there...cant be re-positioned, it can be removed ,but then it gets destroyed. The instructions are pretty basic and says stick it behind the wind shield mirror, the picture shown looks like its some 1980s car with just a mirror support stuck on the windshield..lots of empty space around the mirror support....unlike the newer cars - GLC300 to be specific , there is basically a 18"x12" of blacked area on the windshield , behind the rear view mirror, which automatically excludes placing a sticker there.
So...my question is ..has anyone installed this new IPass sticker on a GLC300 and verified the toll gizmos read this correctly with no issues.?
Also my understanding is some newer cars have special windshield features that may not exactly compatible with these stickers ...I hope GLC300 is not one of those..

Have the new sticker to the right of the rearview mirror unit, and slammed up high - no problems as of yet. 2016 GLC300

Thanks ..I'll keep that in mind before I decide what to do. The good news is that these stickers are free of charge , but the bad news is ...if they don't work in the location I put it, then I'll have to go through a
rigmarole with the toll people to straighten it out...Thanks all.

I thought it had to make full adhesive contact in order to work. But I'm certainly not an expert.

I was having trouble with getting my K-Pass (Kansas) read, and their help desk recommended I place it in the sunroof's leading edge.
Haven't been through a toll booth since I mounted it there so I can't report.

If you just purchased the car, your salesperson would--should-- be able to help you. One of the first things my salesperson pointed out when he did the "here are your keys" handover was that the car has an infra-red film in the windshield which messes with the signal and showed me where to place the transponder....and then stuck it in place (I have mine mounted on a suction cup bracket).

I've had an IPass in my 2019 GLC300 for 6 years with no problem. It's mounted in the suction cup holder so you can take it on and off the windshield. I've had it to the right and left of the rearview mirror and also below the rearview mirror with no problems. It does not have to be flush on the windshield.

Do you have an Acoustic Package with IR windshield?
That's when the ID visibility is a problem.

If you do, then your mount experience is good to hear. Not my experience, though.

You could do what I always did when I was in Ill-Noise (and now in FL). You do not need one.

I have six cars on my i-Pass (SunPass) account. If you do not have a sticker or transponder it will toll-by-plate. This was setup for you if you rent a car you can add the plate for what ever period you need and be billed (at the lower rate) automically by plate. So - none of my cars has a sticker or a transponder. The transponder is seriously in a drawer of my office desk.

As long as you have a positive balance on the account, pay-by-plate costs the exact same as a transponder. https://agency.illinoistollway.com/paybyplate

More from Illinois.

I can say 100% that my Sunpass works in every other state I have driven in - as "pay by plate" has taken the payments, no issues. There have been one or two including one in Florida who had an issue with their interface to the "X-Pass" (IPass, SunPass, EZPass) system. With them, and some years ago I had to just give a card over the phone and I was charged the cash price.

More States are going to plate readers and eliminating tool booths/windshield tag readers. But not all - yet.
