Garage-/floorjack required lift higt

I'm out for buying a garage-/floorjack mostly for changing summer-/winter tyres on my GLC 300de 2020 with airomatic suspension. I was wondering what lift hight is required to get the tyres of the ground, does anyone know? I have been looking on one that lifts 552mm.

Think the CAT 3 ton from costco for example might work.

Thanks for your reply. No afense but I was hoping for a little more "precis" answer then "think" and "might". 😉

Regular 3 ton floor jack is about 18 inches/ 46cm lifting. See your candidate jack's specification.

18" has no problem for lifting GLC tire changes, under the front bumper jack point Or under the front door jack points.

Buy some jack stands together for adding safety because the jack can fail.

I know any 3 Ton floor jack from Harbor Freight will have more than sufficient height. I wouldn't use anything less capacity rating. I "think" you can get your car jack out and measure for yourself to get a “PRECISE“ measurement. None of us here know how high you “MIGHT" like the tire clearance off the floor. Question for you... Have you ever done this? It's a odd question to ask. I could understand a question about how to install a jackstand while a floor jack has lifted the vehicle since there's limited lift points but you didn't ask that.
Good luck and measure those millimeters as close as you can safely.

I dont have a GLC but I would go out to the car and measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the jacking pads. I have a floor jack that was labeled as for suvs, its just a regular floor jack that comes with an extension, basically just a 5" length of pipe to add on if the vehicle is higher off the ground.

I have a W204 that sits around 5" off the ground and the jacking points, i have to drive my car up on planks of wood just to fit my floor jacks under. I made 2 sets of ramps out of wood planks, I feel much safer with the car on ramps than I do it sitting on jack stands. Obviously this wont work if the wheels have to come off, but for oil changes, transmission work, exhaust work etc I drive it up my ramps. Even then its a tight fit and may need to raise it even more to fit under.

Get some jack pads that fit into the recesses for your ride. Mine are aluminum, but you can get some inexpensive rubber ones. Better than using pinch weld pads.

I have the Daytona 3 ton Long reach jack from Harbor Freight.

the center jack points are under the cross member and under the rear diff. I needed something longer to make sure I could easily get under there and place jack stands accordingly.

I also bought jack stands and jack pad adapters to have attachments on my stands that fit in the factory side jack point locations.
