X254 GLC News and Rumors
Any thoughts on the new 2022 GLC? I'm in the market for a new vehicle and it's either a GLE or GLC. I do like the GLC but it's rough riding and loud - so I don't think I'd make it my daily driver. I wonder if that may change for the second generation due in about a year. The only other thing that bothers me is the lack of knee room in the front seat. I think the center console is unnecessarily wide. I could have used another three inches of leg room there. I see pictures of the new C-Class - which will probably be nearly the same for the GLC - but I can't tell if that center console is still as wide.

If you ask me I think that the GLC will remain the same size, just an interior/exterior modification. Behind the GLE, its a very popular model. In terms of how it will look, we just gotta wait until the next auto-shows to see how it looks. If you were to ask me, coming from an ML to a GLC you definitely miss the space in the back, and hopefully I am going back to GLE once im done with this one.

However after some long trips, I found it to be very comfortable. Especially considering that it's hard for me to find a car where some part of the console hits my knee in just the wrong place, unless I adjust the seat to a non-comfortable position. I'm 6 feet.
So I like it more than I would have thought.
And I find that 19" tires are pretty comfortable, Run-flats or Go-flats - we have both. Do the 19's.

2021 GLC 300
Thank you, Size-wise, the GLC is fine. I just don't like the WIDE center console. It takes up too much knee-room in the front seat. I don't need a large back seat. I love the gas mileage I get from the GLC 300 and the power is really quite adequate. Surprising, actually. It's just the NVH that could be better. I know it's not one of Mercedes' top models but I think all Mercedes vehicles should be reasonably quiet inside. It IS a luxury brand. The harshness of the ride is to be expected, but I think with AIRMATIC, it would be fine. That and perhaps non run flat tires would/could make for a very nice ride...
The ride and sound level improved quite a bit when I dumped the run flats and went to some quality all season Michelins. Being a first tme German vehicle owner I must say the BMW X3 has a more quiet ride and just feels screwed together better. All four bangers are going to be noisey. At times I think my new GLC 300 resembles the sound of a diesel. I own the GLC for its quick 4 cyl and the beautiful interior and the BMW for its driving dynamics.

My biggest question is when. I’m seriously considering a GLC but my current lease ends this December and I doubt they will be selling it already in the US. I did own a 2016 GLC that was replaced by the current BMW X5; loved the GLC except for the super annoying windshield wiper rattling/skipping

Oh, goodness, don't remind me. That's very annoying. :p I'm really hoping the next generation doesn't have that problem. I know, it's a "first world" problem... Personally, I think all Mercedes products should have the same high quality but I suppose to make things more affordable, some things must be sacrificed...

In fairness MB seem to have addressed these issues. ...my 2016 GLC had these annoying problems but my 2020 300d so far hasn't shown any signs of either issue! !!!

First year is always the worst year and then there is a steady improvement. But by the last year, when everything seems to have been resolved, it feels outdated.

Personally, from what I've gathered, I would not call the 2022 GLC a redesign but just another refresh. The exterior looks pretty much the same. The interior looks pretty much the same except for the 1.5" larger vertical infotainment screen and dash vent design. When I think redesign I would expect new powertrain, increased towing capacity, significant body style change, extended wheel base, more standard equipment, etc,etc.

The 2022 car will (likely) get the all 4 cyl line up from C class, triangular tail lamps, new headlamps, new grill, larger (maybe?) dimensions, new tech and cluster from S Class, fully redone interior, probably more safety tech standard, all that stuff.

Where are you getting all this info? From what I've seen on you tube and on the web it will be the same 2.0 litre as the 2021. The grill I saw looked like the AMG package grill and the interior looked pretty much the same except for the infotainment screen and dash vents. I also didn't see any triagular tail lamps. Maybe I'm looking at a different vehicle.

I just looked on MB Facebook page and it shows 2022 GLC 63 S with 2021 interior. Is 2022 C sedan alone in getting S-class interior?

On a side note, just realized for some reason X254 sub-forum isn't out yet when the W206 sub-forum was out at the time the car wasn't even revealed yet (unless I am blind and don't see the X254 sub-forum), Wolfman, mind doing the honours?

If it wasn't for my need for the driver's assist right now, I might have waited for the '22 because it should finally be a partial hybrid. I read M-B has the final goal of making ALL ICE engined vehicles partial hybrids but needs overcame prudence.
