Test Drove 2023 GLC
I currently have a 2014 ML 350 and was looking to, perhaps, downsize to a GLC 300. Have you or your daughter drive the GLC at night with the ambient lighting on? I've seen a couple of night drive videos, and there appears to be a bit of reflection on the windshield and side windows, but that may be due to the location of the camera in the vehicle itself. Have you driven an ML/GLE? I've heard comments that wind/road noise is pretty good in the GLC, but that the GLE is a bit quieter. I'm still torn between the two vehicles. I no longer have the requirement for cargo (my four nieces are all in college now and don't want to hang our with their "old" aunt and uncle
, but both vehicles are worth their cost, especially when comparing either to my current ML.

My ML doesn't have that whistling noise - prehaps that's a GLE-specific issue. I will, hopefully, be relocating back to Tampa, FL when I retire in 2030. Being currently in Hawaii, I don't normally drive as fast as I do while on vacation, so it's nice to read that the GLC performs well. One thing I really liked from the order guide is that MB is divorcing DISTRONIC from the DA-2 Driver Assistance Package. To be honest, that was the only reason for me to even consider that package. DISTRONIC by itself is only $600, as opposed to $1,920 for the DA-2 package. I don't need the active options - I would rather have them passive. When looking at the GLE order guide, I have to get the DA-2 package to get DISTRONIC. $15K is a bit, when comparing two comparably-equipped vehicles, especially in today's economy. Thanks for the speedy reply and the information you provided.
The interior is pretty much the same (unless one gets the AMG interior), obviously different colors and trims. Not sure if it would be much nicer with leather (but no ventilated seats, so a bit less ‘luxurious’ in my mind).
I did like the electric starter motor. No more complaints about the auto start/stop from me - car drive off the line instantaneously, no ‘shudder’ or noise because of the engine starting off a light. Also seems to have plenty of torque for accelerating and overtaking.
Also liked the space. Surprising amount of cargo space, with the seats down and having a 6 foot 1 driver. Likewise, I sat comfortably behind myself (with the driver seat being where I would normally have it). Plenty of space in doors and between seats. Sunny day, no problems reading the screens. Also no issues with my polarized sun glasses (but the car I test drove didn’t have the HUD).
Didn’t mind the capacitive buttons and non-movable seat adjusting buttons all that much. I think I would get used to all that really quick - except for during cold season when I wear gloves maybe.
On the fence whether to order one or not. It’s a lot of money for a car that I would have expected to be a bit, well, nicer - more luxurious in a way. Hard to put my finger on it.

I pick my 300RWD on 4/24. Loving it. Attached is the April order guide. Think it’s the latest. Shows all the options and prices. Your right about the 2024 and the short run for the 23 line. Chalk it up to all that has happened over the last year or so.

Navi is standard on the DX1 trim so hence why it's only available on base cars. it doesn't show an option for DX0 Premium trim because it's standard; that's the base trim. And some of the options are different prices on the 2023 order guide then they are IRL, so that's definitely subject to change.

I'm surprised the delivery for the '24's is October. This is part of the email I received from our dealership...not from a salesperson, but someone in management of a fairly big chain. I do not get the impression the'24's will be that far out, but she didn't specifically say either. She calls out the color changes in '24, the lack of MSRP's, but not that there are a lot of reductions in option prices. And the option prices in the '23 guide match exactly what Moroney labels show for '23's. My guess is the MSRP will go up, and the option prices came down, so they will be about the same overall....but who knows.Right now, the model year 2023 GLC orders have been locked in and 2024 model year will start being produced so that is why I say we can configure a 2024 model as opposed to a 2023 model (essentially no changes from the 2023 model year with the exception of some additional color choices). When you were here, the configurator was difficult to navigate and I understand it is functioning for the model year 2024 GLC. While we do not have the official pricing and MSRP released, we can help with an estimation.
I just looked at my 2022 sticker and the base was $45,850. the Base for the 2023 is $49,100. That might put the 2024 base around $52,350, maybe a little less because the car won’t be any different from the 2023.
