Newbie here, I am very close to acquiring the newly redesigned 2023 GLC 300 4MATIC with night package, AMG line package and executive trim. The only thing holding me back from actually saying “yes” to the vehicle is that I have read multiple reviews online and most of them were all negative. It seems that many people are currently having problems with the vehicle starting, 12v battery not working, etc. I emailed my sales consultant and I told him that I was no longer interested in the vehicle because of what I read. He emailed me back letting me know that “he looked into my concerns and there is a software update and a check for a connector that can retain watcher in a high humidity environment, should not be a problem for you or any customers going forward”. I talked to a service advisor and he mentioned that there hasn’t been any issues with them as far as he’s concerned. I honestly don’t know if I believe either one of them. If you currently have this vehicle, can you please let me know if what I am reading is correct or should I look elsewhere? I do not want a problematic vehicle! Especially if I am being already forewarned. Thank you!

A service campaign was launched today to fix the issue. You can look up the thread “2023 GLC will not start” and see a link to the official campaign. Still waiting on my order to arrive, so I can’t give you any personal experience with this.
This is great...thank you. We are looking hard at a '23 GLC and are pretty close to doing it. I became aware today thanks to this website about the no-starting issue, but never saw really much owner feedback otherwise. I assumed there was more somewhere. I will check out GLC forums. One word of advice, that I do too frequently anyway....is don't buy a model year #1 car....which the '23 GLC is of course.

If you don’t want a problematic vehicle, do not buy an MB. MB is at the bottom of the list for reliability.

Even came with a CPO warranty for an additional year and unlimited mileage. After 3 years or more should she desire, she will trade in the GLC get at least half her purchase price back and cost of ownership will be much lower than if she purchased or leased a 2023.
Do yourself a favor and don’t go for the 2023 GLC, first model year tends to have many recalls and problems that were not realized in MB testing. Only when a vehicle goes into everyday , real life usage, do unexpected problems occur. Every time something pops up you will second guess yourself for getting the 2023. Hey, anyway is it such a nice looking car ? Not to me. Good luck

You are right in a lot of ways. However, and I realize the looks were not a major change for '23 (and are always subjective), but I think it is a great looking SUV, inside and out..actually maybe the best looking compact/midsize. We have also driven the '23 RX and for whatever reason it did just appeal to me in any way. Did not drive an Audi Q5 because I know a totally new is coming out next year, and am pretty sure about the X3 being new next year also. We really liked the GV 70 a lot, but the one and only dealer here in NV has about a 5K markup, which is a non-starter for me. Nothing else really on our list. Honestly, I think you almost have to wait until year 3 or 4 to really get the bugs worked out.
Hopefully those with the problems will get that update quickly and report back that the problem(s) are solved....although people tend to complain more than the opposite! I talked to an MB dealer yesterday on the phone about '23 GLC's, and asked her if she new about the starting issue. She claimed she did not, but don't really believe her. Salespeople tend to skirt around any problems because the last thing they want to do is jeopardize a sale. Better if you buy it, they get the commission, problems after the fact are the buyers.
I have had my 23 GLC for two months and it’s been at the dealer for a digital light fault with leveling sensor, which caused my brights to turn on when I used the blinker. Also, the moonroof won’t close on first attempt, the center console black lacquer already destroyed with microfiber cloth, That’s it so far.
If you are concerned about reliability, don’t purchase a Mercedes-Benz,get a Lexus. I love the car, everyone likes it and comments, but reliability isn’t gonna be with any new Mercedes. I had a Lexus before this, and it never went to the dealer for anything other than than oil change. You’ll love the car but it has too much technology to not be worry free. Mine luckily hasn’t had the start up issue yet.
Mercedes is a brand you have to be able to afford to fix if you drive one. Lol.

Thanks. This, and other posts I have come across, and we decided to get something else. We still have one more car to replace hopefully by year end. I was really hoping for the MB but I think we will just let the new GLC play out for a few months and see how it goes. We did drive the new '23 RX but really did not think much of it...although I am sure it is reliable. I will say this....all this technology they keep cramming into new cars and they are a handful to figure out.

I agree with your assessment of the RX great reliability, and resale value somewhat boring. If you’re looking for the new Audi or BMW models, I would be wary of issues with first model year redesigns. Look at the mistakes MB has made with its GLC. I don’t think that these other German manufacturers are any better. Sometimes new models are released in Europe and do not come stateside for a year. It gives the new model a chance to get its problems worked out. Now , many of the German cars are made here so we’ve become the lab rats. I bought a 2021 GLE, I did not want to get the GLE in 2020 when it was a first year totally redesigned vehicle. I’m glad I waited. Sometimes you can judge a company not by how many issues they have, but rather how they handle these issues.

Let me give an update on the update, some are saying it helped others said it did not. However, good news is MB seems to figured it out (hopefully) and recalling fuel pumps, apparently the supplier altered the production process without notifying MB causing issues.

Anyways, in my opnion all manufacturers have bad batches and lemons, errors can occur from bad suppliers or at the assembly line I guess that is what warranty is for (to cover defects in material and workmanship).
The X254 GLC 300 is a new generation (and 2023 was the first model year) for MB so there might be stuff that needs to be worked out, although I am not defending MB and just straight up say the launch leaves a lot to be desired, the last generation (X253) when all new (first model year) didn't have as many problems.
Production dates for fuel pump recall on GLC are June 01,2021-Nov 30,2022 so many X254 owners here should not be affected. For example, wife’s in stock purchase was built Feb 10, 2023, well outside the recall dates. 2022 owners may have more exposure. I talked to an SA and confirmed my thought that they were not sitting on a pile of fuel pumps so part availability could be an issue.

Check your production or build date per the post above. You may want to check the actual recall notice in post #17. The GLC notice is buried in the body of the notice.

Then it could just be the control unit update issue.
I thought that the fuel pump issue was just for the 2023 MY. Do you know if the 2022 MY GLC had a problem or a recall on the fuel pump? Thanks
It covers a variety of models and a couple of model years as well, MB seemed to have switched suppliers mid way for most cars hence why there were problems. Another thing is, if your vehicle is affected, the recall should be in "OPEN" status in VMI.
