GLC Oil Change & Filter
Performed an oil change on the 2023 GLC today at just under 4,000 miles. I have changed oil in my cars since the 70's. The GLC is as easy as it gets. The hardest part or most time consuming is removing the plastic pan, maybe 10 screws, I did not count. The drain plug is plastic. It more or less clicks loose with a flat head screwdriver followed by a short number of turns to remove. The o-ring on this plug is not a stocked MB part. If you wish to get a fresh o-ring you need to buy the entire drain plug. I am sure with a little work you could find an o-ring. And in all honesty the o-ring that is on there will be fine for many oil changes.
I ordered the oil filter from Rock Auto, Don't do it it's the wrong one I do think they have the correct one. The correct filter that I purchased from the MB dealer is long with an off center small tip at the bottom that must be located and press in to position. To get to the filter the two engine covers come off by a simple lift off. The cool air intake tube is also in the way and comes off very easy. Filter housing takes a large socket to remove. It's metric but an 1-1/16" works just fine. 6 L of Liqui Moly oil and I am all set.
I have not re-set the computer yet.

I changed My oil as well and it was the easiest oil change ever. I did as you get the Dealer oil filter and plug. I now see the plugs are available on Amazon in a 6 piece set. but I paid $38 dollars for the filter and plug from the dealer. That is better than paying the $365 they want here to do the oil change at MB.
I did reset the service as well in the computer.

Chance the o-ring fails might be low but the result would be catastrophic, like the space shuttle Challenger. Conversely, even if the odds are high something might fail doesn't really matter if the result costs very little to fix. Don't make the same mistake as the CDK guys!

WIS calls for drain plug (and o-ring) replacement at each oil change. It's cheap insurance.
The plastic plug itself deforms with each installation - the "threads" are not intended to be used repeatedly. It's a single use item.

Edit: Sorry I meant copper o-rings, the drain plug was not copper but it was not plastic.

Alternatively you can install those valve thing (I forgot what's it called) that is like turning on/off a tap, makes changing oil much easier.

Hello B1, Can you walk me through the oil reset? Or perhaps there is a link? The ones I could find on line did not work for me.
