2024 GLC300 New Owner Questions

Hello MBWorld - new 2024 GLC300 4Matic owner and also new to Mercedes Benz ownership. A few questions Im hoping to get answered to help get situated with the car.

1. Really love the looks and driving - ok thats not a question
2. Dealer told me oil change intervals are 10K miles - do most people go this long? Im thinking 8K would be the max to ensure long life of the drivetrain?
3. Looking at the 10K/20K service packages it seems the main difference is at 20K they recommend changing the brake fluid. Is this really necessary to change the brake fluid every 20K - other cars Ive owned its minimum 5yr/50K with synthetic fluid
4. I havent gotten an exact quote but it seems an oil change runs approx $300 from the dealer - any special reason use the dealer for oil changes or can you go to a quick lube place?
5. Prepaid maintence quote for me was $3K+ for 4yr/40K - is this a good discount on the cost of 4 maintenance service visits?
6. Extended warranty - yes or no? Are there dealers out there who sell factory extended warranties for a discount (Some other brands have a few dealers willing to do this)?

Unfort 10 minutes after we lef the dealer we got a "low tire pressure warning" light on the dash. The pressure was 41 PSI all around and was telling us to check for low tire pressure. I lowered it to 37 PSI which is the recommended value on the fuel filler door to no avail - is this a common problem, or is there an owner way to "reboot" the system?

Thanks in advance!

I had the same tire pressure alert right after picking up our new GLC300. Also tried reducing pressure. Final
solution was to go into setting and tell the system what tire pressure is okay. I run my tires at 40 PSI, so I
set the system to that number and no more alerts. 40 PSI is what the dealer originally inflated the tires to.

I recommend inflating the tire pressures to those shown on the gas fuel cap door, dealership overinflate due to inventory sitting on the lot for days to months. Proper tire pressure referencing the fuel cap door helps with wear and ride comfort.

Thanks for the input on the TP issue - in flipping through the screens I came across the "System" dash which allowed me to "Reset TP to current settings" - seems weird the owner can change the "normal" TP settings :P - Someone at the dealer must've set the default to something over 50. All good now.

Any thoughts on the oil and brake fluid change interval?

I just changed the oil on our 2023 GLC at 3,600 miles Had it for 12 months. Will go longer from here on out, just wanted any potential contamination gone.

#2 Your vehicle use synthetic oil. So 10;000 between changes are not a problem.
#3 I not sure on that one. Think 50 is the right answer with synthetic.
#4 My dealer in south Fl gets $600 for A and $1,000 for B. So guess what I had a local shop who specializes in MB and other foreign vehicle do the A service. Total cost including tax.$239.00. My 2023 is leased so I saved the receipt and my contract is not voided.
#5 Not for me. I have used independents for years and the cost of repairs is 1/2 the cost.
#6 I wouldn’t there are generally all sorts of exceptions in the contract.

i run my tires at 38PSI Did the same with my other MBs they were run flats and around 12,000 had to replace. But this car has standard tires and so far at 7,600 show no real wear. But the run flats I could see that they were going to need replacing.

I have one other suggestion for you. Go to YouTube and listen to “Earl on cars” He is a long time car dealer (Toyota but he drives a Tesla). If you want to ask a question tune in on Saturday at 8 am(est). They don’t care what brand you drive all questions get answered.

I love my 2023 GLC300 SUV. Don’t drive to much around 7500/yr and i lease my cars so every 3 yrs I get new, but for many many I owned and put 75,000 before replacing.

I purchased the MB extended warranty 7 yr 75k miles for $1950. Got a quote from MB dealer in Louisville and the DC dealer I purchased from matched it. Said he only made $100.

i thought that was a good vale for a $55k car with lots of technology. The warranty is from MB and is refundable up to 48 months. Then refund decreases each month as the car ages. But any claim is applied.

Over my decades of car ownership I have learned that car manfacturers tend to set tires pressures
a bit on the soft side to favor a better ride. The down side of running tires a bit soft is uneven wear,
as in, the inside and outside edges of the tire will wear down faster than the center section. Just
thinking of the GLK350 that I traded in on my GLC300 and my currently owned M235i proves this
out. After watching the original OEM tires wear the edges faster than the centers, I set the pressures
2 to 3 PSI higher and voila, even wear across the board. I must give thanks to my great high school
auto shop instructor for teaching us students the basics.

I see, thanks for your suggestion but what is on the fuel cap works for me and I do check tires regularly, they are wearing evenly.

Jeff Jackson - MB Louisville:
jjackson@mblouisville.com

Search his name on this forum to see the various favorable posts from those who purchased extended warranties and/or prepaid maintenance plans from him. I bought an extended warranty for the first time ever for our 2020 GLE when we purchased it in June 2019, and it has paid for itself 3x over in the last couple months with replacement of failed evap coil + busted strut. I purchased both the extended warranty (6 yrs/100k) and prepaid service (4 yrs/40k) from Jeff, all done via email - very easy and straightforward.

I assume these prepaid maintenance plans include 4 service visits(10,20,30,40K), correct? For the 40K visit does anyone know if its invalid if you have 40,001 miles?

Yes, 10/20/30/40k are included in the 4 year package, although you can buy service plans for shorter periods as well (e.g. 10/20 or 10/20/30). The actual mileage on the vehicle should not invalidate the service.

German cars that run syn oil hace had 1yr 10k intervals for almost 25 years now.....

The oil will be dark after one engine cycle.
On my track car, I used to change the oil before a track day weekend, run maybe 300 miles on track and change the oil afterwards and it's black.
