GLC 63 trailer hitch question
I could not have the trailer towing package on my GLC 63 because I had the Parktronic. Does anybody know why this is in either or? Is it because of the wiring or something else? Can I install the MB OEM hitch if I don't wire it (not needed for off the road use)? The receiver does not extend past the back of the bumper.

Since the hands free trunk opening is part of the parktronic package ,you can get one OR the other . My guess is that the hitch goes in the front of a sensor use to able to open the trunk .
Some people in this forum installed the hitch on the 43 model and have no issues with it .
In euro models , you can have parktronic and trailer hitch but the trailer hitch shape is different .
You can always check this out

From what i understand , the trailer hitch will delete the hands free trunk opening only .

I bit the bullet and ordered the factory tow setup for my GLC 63S Coupe. Price tag, $3600 installed. Apparently its about 12 hours of labor as they have to pretty much take the whole vehicle apart. I'll know more next week when all the parts come in. As soon as it's all setup I can post some pics here. My understanding is it can tow 3500lbs for the US version (not sure why Euro and AU versions tow more but Im sure the US version could as well). I just want to tow my Slingshot around to the mountains a few times a year so i think it will be fine. It's 1800#'s and the trailer, depending which one I get should be less than 1000#'s. I might borrow my buddies trailer which is a good bit heavier and would but me either at or just a hair over the 3500lbs.

Thanks. I understand that a hitch can be installed on a coupe but not the SUV which has a foot kick sensor to open the hatch mounted under the bumper. The hitch blocks the sensor. Does anybody know of a hitch that works with the sensor?

After ordering all the hitch parts from Mercedes turns out my SUV had the aero package. To install the hitch they sent on the aero package meant removing the aero package, that really cool rear diffusor and cutting a huge section of the lower valence out to leave it open for the hitch. This was not an acceptable option. So I essentially gave up on towing and picked up a C63S Coupe... I'm done trying to get modify vehicles to tow once or twice a year. I'll drive the slingshot where it needs to go LOL.
