Can we use the same downpipes as in the C43's?
If not, which downpipes are you guys using on your GLC43's? I'm only interested in catted options.
Thanks!

PM Shardul. He sells Mike Custom's Downpipes that fit the GLC43. They are pretty popular in the c63 and S-class coupe forums. Here's a quote from Shardul when I inquired about Catted version in PM.
"I would definitely get the catless version. Stock cats is where the restriction is. People choose the catted version if their car is not tuned, because a non catted down pipe will trigger the CEL with a tune.
About 40 to 50 hp with a ECU tune and catless version." - Shardul
Otherwise, you can go with the Weistec Cats. They are super expensive though. I have not installed the Cats as I am waiting to get my Service A completed first which will be middle of next month sometime. After my first service visit, I will get an ECU tune and downpipes installed.

I really want ones with High Flow Cats. Don't want the stink, or CEL. Where do I get the Weistec ones? Are the C43 DP{'s compatible with the GLC43?Originally Posted by DameMD

What about the Brondex ones? Anyone have any experience with them?

Mike Custom's downpipes can come catted. They are $650 for de-catted and add $300 for Catted. Follow the thread here https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...npipe-kit.htmlOriginally Posted by haunebu81

Those are for the C43. Does the GLC43 use the exact same ones?Originally Posted by DameMD

There's only a handful of us that are actually modding the GLC43. If you are expecting to get a lot of answers on mods, visit the c43 section then ask the vender if said parts fit the GLC43 too.

Did I read somewhere that the trans needed to be dropped in order to install if you didn't want to cut a pipe? Of was that for the 63? I forget.

Did you notice better sound after? Any extra power? More crackling and popping?

That was for the w205 c63. For some reason the tranny is in the way and needs to be dropped which explains why there aren't many 63 owners doing said mod. It's still popular but listening to the horror stories on that forum make me cringe. I am wondering if the GLC63 variants will have the same issue. Originally Posted by Sincity

w205 c43 owners have no issues with the downpipes. Heard it was a pretty straight forward install and doesn't take that long. There's one or two bolts that need some greasing/WD40 to be loosen but not a big deal.

I haven't installed my downpipes yet (read my previous posts about waiting for Service A to be completed). Per the c43 guys, you will get more exhaust noise and you can hear more of the turbos spooling which is a good thing. I haven't heard of anyone losing popping and cracking sounds. If I was you, I would also do the resonator delete to compliment the downpipes. Your GLC43 should sound bad@ss . I can't wait to install my downpipes and ECU tune as I am itching for more power. Yeah downpipes should change the sound significantly. Just for ****s, i took off the muffler and it sounds absolutely ridiculous, basically a straight pipe from cat back. Gonna put it back on because it drones a little at highway speed because it just dumps right below the rear seats.Originally Posted by DameMD

Please update once you get them installed. Would love to hear your opinion on sound, power, crack/pops.Originally Posted by haunebu81

Drove an X3M40i this past weekend and was pretty impressed. Pulled well and crack/pops were insane. Ha. Steering felt better than the GLC, as well.

Until this thing is my sons there will be no crazy **** happening on this wagon anytime soon. One and done. For all you guys thinking a down-pipe is a consideration please research precious metals found in stock cat's. Then research the cost. Have a good weekend everyone ! TRIFECTA !!!!
