GLC 43 interior rattles
Hi,
Anyone else have a GLC 43 (or 63) with interior rattles? Have you been able to get the dealer to resolve them? I get that it's an AMG has stiffer suspension/chassis, etc. I also expect from a $70K+ vehicle not to be embarrassed when other people ride in it and comment on the rattles.
Thanks,
David

No major interior rattles that I can think of on my 18 GLC43...and the roads here in the Northeast are absolutely awful. Are you riding on run-flats by chance? See what your dealer can do and go from there. They should be accommodating on fixes. And if on run-flats, dump those POS.

I have the rattles. I'll take it to the dealer eventually, but it doesn't bother me that much
The screen, cup holder and something in the rear rattle over small bumps depending on the temperature (hotter weather rattles more)

I have the 21” summer’s, but have had run flats in the past...they suck. If u have run flats on 20’s, u probably have multiple options for non rfts. I personally think Michelin’s are probably the best tires out there, so I’d look for them.

I have a 63s. Now over 5000km, the door window seals, glass holder, cup holders, seat belt holders.
All rattles on rough road... When it's new, it was fine.
I don't know if Mercedes ever tested this car on daily driving for durability...

Had the same problem. Dealer tore it apart twice, some went away but always came back I blame the run flats too. Got rid of that P.O.S. last month after two horrible years. Good riddance.

lol. Surprised if you hated it so much you lasted that long. What did you replace it with?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Get rid of the runflat tires and get a softer riding tire and I bet most of these rattles will be resolved. However, the stiff suspension and chassis does not help.

Same problem
Same problem. Nothing to do with tires. It’s a major problem with plastic parts and rivets everywhere, beginning with the back door inner black panel. Just hit it gently with the hand and you find out. The car is a beast, but that noise is annoying. Changing tires didn’t fixe it at all. It seems this car GLC43 is meant for neat tarmac rodes only. A minor uneven road, the cabin noise gets nasty for this price tag car. :-(

I had my 2020 43 in the shop three times for rattles, all within the first few months of owning it. They fixed most of them, but I had to do some myself. Much of it was around the sunroof, so I stuck some black, 1/2" thick sticky foam tape in the gaps all around it. You can hardly see it and it's quiet now. It also helped when I ditched the run-flats for regular all-season tires.
The poor quality workmanship of Mercedes is one of the reasons why this will be my last Mercedes. My 14-year old Lexus didn't rattle at all, and never went to the shop for repairs even once. If Lexus didn't have that fugly front grill I would have bought another one. My mistake.

I also have a 2018 GLC43 with 64K km. I have 21” summer tires and have a 19” winter tire package. I have not experienced any interior rattles (or any rattles for that matter) with either of the wheel sizes. I did replace the summer tires with non-run flat tires (Pirelli P Zero PZ4’s).

2021 GLC63S SUV w/ continental conventional tires, I was very slowly driving on the country bumpy road after taking delivery of the vehicle and thought everything was going to come apart inside. Spent A$200K+ for this and the quality is disappointing.
Now I can hear micro rattles from overhead when the surface of the road is not smooth but can't exactly pinpoint the source. There's also faint rattles on the driver door panel every now and then.
Everyone's noise sensitivities vary greatly so I'm not sure rattles I have are normal or not. If radio/music is on, I wouldn't notice them as much. I think I've also got used to the rattles after 3500km.
My dealership has a site foreman who goes for a test drive with you to listen to the rattles and annoying sound, so you might wanna ask your dealer that.

Central console squeaks
Hi.
Ignoring bad squeaks from central display. What I did:
1. Removing central display-first You have to remove upper cover of speaker in order to reach 2 bolts.
2. Adding some self-adhesive furniture pads(2$) in the area where display contacts with dashboard structure.
3. Restoring the display back in place.
I could say, that by this way the squeaks are 100% ignored and, when pushing the display even very hard there is No any noises coming from there as before.
Ignoring bad squeaks from central console. What I did:
1. I removed central console by removing 2 bolts near middle armrest under plastic button.
2. Disconnected the cables and took out entire console out from the car.
3. Removed panels for CD and AC by adjusting their pop up clips.
4. Added felt type to all points of contact between pop up clips and their places in the console.
5. Re-installed back again all components.
I have pushed again console in various places and realized, that the squeaks were more or less reduced, but still present. As main contributing factor to that, I could say that the two control panels(CD and AC) were with extremely poor quality in respect of their assembly. When the console is pressed the minor deformation is transferring to the structure of these panels and they produce that bad creaks. Despite that the noise from pop up clips, securing panels with central console was ignored, the squeaks coming from the control panels are still quite noticeable. The situation is getting worse if the cars is leaved under the sun.
I am evaluating possible gluing all contact lines/seams of AC and CD panels, but this looks like a bit of risky operation.
It is very sad that MB rely on subcontractors producing components with extremely poor quality in respect of their mechanical assembly

I have a '19 that squeaks from the instrument display/dash cowl. If I push the dash cowl towards the windshield it is greatly reduced. Drives me crazy. I don't have runflats. At some point I may have to access the instrument display and lace it with a sound dampener (foam/cloth/rubber), just enough to provide back pressure and keep it from rattling.
