2020 GLC63 Ordering Updates?

Does anyone with an order/build request have any specific information (dates, PO, etc.) from their dealer? My build request for a 2020 GLC63 SUV has been submitted for a couple of months now, but there are no updates/timing associated with it.

2020 GLC63S couple ordered late last month (local MB dealer had build slot already), was told in country (Toronto, Canada) mid to later October.

Previous experience had CLA45 AMG ordered late summer 2017 arriving late November same year.

You’ll need to check with your dealer and nail them down if they actually got an allocation for your build. My understanding is a “build request” is not an actual order especially since you said you’ve had for a couple of months...build requests were being taken well before actual production. I know first deliveries are set for Oct. If your not getting actual order info/VIN/etc from your dealer, my guess is they don’t have an allocation and your “build request” is just sitting on their system without any action. Good luck!

I have checked with them and they currently do not have an allocation. Does anyone know how allocations work for the GLC63 models? I know some manufacturers provide allocations based on sales volumes or other nuances. Should I be shopping around for an allocation?

Hello from France ;-) I have ordered a GLC 63 S SUV facelift beginning of July, the MB dealer have one in order/allocation that could be fully modified until the 20th July for a delivery the 25th of August. Still waiting but the news from last Monday was that the car is now built in Bremen factory in Germany :-) I expect the delivery within end of September... fingers crossed
Hope that's help!

First post here, looking to replace my 2017 BMW M3 with a 2020 GLC63.

I’ve approached a few dealers to place an order and all seem to be more than willing to do so. However, no word on actual allocations.

The bigger issue is negotiating a (modest) discount. Best I’ve been quoted is 3%.

That's brutal. It's basically trivial to get 10% off MSRP on a 2019 (at least it was 4 months ago, should be even more trivial now).

I’d pull the trigger today on 6% off a new order, but that has gotten me laughed out of two local dealers (NC).

Is 6% really that unreasonable? At the two dealers that just didn’t want my business, I was even willing to pay their $699 doc fee.

No, not laughable at all, BUT dealers are in the driver's seat right now. They want to clear out existing inventories and the 2020 is a refresh model that isn't even out yet. They know or think most American car buyers are impatient, so they have time to say "no" right now and not "deal".

I'll probably be reaching out to my dealer in the next week or so to see what kind of deal they are willing to do, but not expecting much. I now want a 63 and the new 2020 tech vs my 18 43, but also willing to wait, if price isn't right. Timing is a big component of the car purchasing process...and not so much on the buyers side right now. That can change quickly, however. Good luck!

Abel at MB of Boerne in Texas said he would do 6% off but wanted an insane deposit which he said could be negotiable. I'm not ordering until I get at least 10% off but if you're comfortable with 6%, give him a shout.

I don't think 6% is a bad discount, but for me what is more concerning is having an order turn into an allocation. I might be willing to pay a % or two more to get the car a month or two earlier.

Posted this in my other thread, but I ended up getting 4.5% off a guaranteed Nov build.

I agree that it's one thing to get a discount, an entirely different thing to get an allocation. Ran into this when ordering my M3 as well.

Discount

I was able to lock in 7% on a 2020 glc63.
Should not be unreasonable...but higher than that may be tough on a refreshed model not out yet.

Thanks for the info. Will probably be putting my feelers out this weekend on a 63.

8 months ago, I only got 5% off of my 2019 GLC63s when I purchased it but they did payoff my trade in which had a little negative equity in it since it was just 8 months old.

Last year I bought my GLC63 from the guys at Euromotocars. Great pricing, great communication and they even shipped the car to Miami. It was the most pleasant dealer relationship I have ever had in my 40 years of buying cars. You can contact them below.

How much does build date matter? GLC 63s

Would there be much difference in resale between a 2019 build on a MY20 GLC 63s as opposed to waiting for a 2020 build. A dealer advised me it could be up to as much as 10k AUS in difference!!

I have to think your dealer was referring to MY19 vs MY20, not the build year of MY20 vehicles. I have never heard of anyone even checking build date of a vehicle, especially in the secondary market.

A well informed buyer may not want one of the first vehicles off the production line when a new design is launched to avoid early factory/part issues when producing a new vehicle, but those buyers are definitely rare. Also, that is not the case for MY20 GLC because it’s a refresh not a redesign.

mid I may ask, what is your general location? I am getting 3% quotes to me. I’d be super happy to find a dealership willing to offer a 7% discount.

I'm back in the game after cancelling my order due to the lackluster deal - dealership was understanding and even refunded my deposit.

Holding out for at least 6%. Otherwise, will hang on to my F80 for a little longer.
