What’s under your cover .

So getting to know my new vehicle, I thought I would check out what’s under cover in the trunk area, other than the spare tire, and jack, and I was surprised to see that only half the trunk bottom has been covered, and the other side has nothing at all, is this normal ?

is this what it should be like ? Liner just on the one side

post pictures of yours.....

is this the same for all GLC 43 models. SUV, Coupe, and AMG

Mine didn’t come with a spare tire.

Question is........

why does only one side have the nice black covering and the left side has nothing, bare painted white metal, like what they can’t make another molded piece of plastic cover it with some felt stuff and make it look nice, instead of half finishedMolokai they left it.

all these little short cuts they do, to save a buck, but make us pay a premium

If you don't have spare tire option (GLC 2020 only) you have the nice black covering under the lid .
With all the black covering on the spare doesn't fit or it does but the lid don't close .
My guess is that was a popular demand for spare and they did it fast and cheap .
I will trade the spare if I had the option to do it but in 2019 it was not available .
What is the size of this spare ?

I was shocked when they show me what's under. You would think they would cover it up.

But I rather have a spare tire than dealing with runflats. I still keep a puncture kit there from my last car and that space is pretty nice for a snow brush for us Canadians.

I see a lot of exposed wires around too. So part of me thinks they didn't really want to offer a spare but had for some models.

That looks normal to me. This is under the nice floor of your trunk. I think you may be a bit unreasonable imo. I think the black stuff is probably covering some harness or other things to protect them while the spare is handled and NOT there for cosmetic reasons.

I guess I just thought if your going to do half the bottom of the trunk with some type of covering, I don’t see why the other half has to look unfinished, or like oops we forgot to do this. I am sure it could be done for a few bucks, nothing that would break the bank, and if done it could be used to hold other items and prevent scratching, plus it could add to a bit of sound deadening.

just a bit of a disappointment based on the amount we pay for these vehicles...

then again, maybe it’s done on purpose so we can hear that wonderful exhaust note if you have the AMG version with the performance exhaust......

I had the same thought. It looks very unfinished. I was thinking of buying the liner from a no-spare model and trying to piece the two sections together.

Think this is the part no. for it: 253-690-07-03-9F08

Here is mine.. No spare tire option GLC43

My rear with the protective mat - courtesy of me sales guy...

No spare - with TireFit Option

Lifted the second covering (Bottom Left) this is where I think the Hybrid model stores it’s charger.

I would rather have it ugly and have a spare tire.

that’s what I’m talking about, nicely finished, it should not matter what the configuration is, spare, no spare, it’s a higher end Mercedes and this is what it should look like. Period

My 2020 glc63 suv has what looks like an air tank for the airmatic suspension in the cylindrical cut out on the left side

Mine is fully lined with a spare tire that fits in there nicely.

Thanks ,
So you got a tiny tire .and you can't close the lid all the way ?
I tried for long time to find something
End up with a bigger spare tire from a GLE and needed to use 15mm spacers to clear the front caliper .
Did you try on the car ?

I can close the cover completely and lock it. I have not put the spare on but I ordered the size another poster sited and test fitted. I don't remember the thread as it was almost two years ago when I got it. Did not like the idea of not having a spare even though the OEM's were run-flat. Glad to finally have those summer tires off.

Got it .
Same here about not having a spare . We only use the GLC for long trip so it's a peace of mind .
