GLC 63 base Vs GLC 63 S

Hello, I am a new member and currently in the market for a 2019 GLC 63 AMG. I would like to know if there is a noticable difference in performace between the base and S model. Is there a difference in the exhaust sound? Thank you for your input!

You probably won't notice a huge difference in performance. You lose 41 hp, 37 ft/lb torque, Race Mode and solid engine mounts. You would get beat in a drag race by a "S" but not by much.

100% get the performance exhaust no matter which one you get and they should sound about the same.

P.S. I would always feel like I was missing the best version if it didn't have a "S" on it.

IIRC the specs on paper for 0-60 were a 0.1sec difference. With that said the extra engine power is achieved through software. Suspension and brakes are the same. The dynamic engine mounts on the S should make a slight improvement in putting power to the ground.

there should be little difference performance-wise, especially if you do not visit race tracks often.

That said, after actually revving a C63S in Race Start mode, it is definitely something I could benefit from when I drag race.

My opinion, if you want an SUV, you have no choice. But if you are getting a Coupe, you have no excuse not to get the S.

Thank you for the input. Performance difference doesn't seem to be much and not super important to me as I won't be racing too much. BUT I do appreciate the sick exhaust sounds!

I am sure you noted that the s is only available in a coupe version for 2019. Also worth mentioning that the 2030 is the facelift and has MBUX option among other things but it’s exhaust sound is detuned thanks to EU regulations.
I took delivery of a 2019 s two weeks ago and there are not very many left.

Actually, the HP & LB-FT numbers are closer then Mercedes lets on.

Mercedes list them as:

S: 503 HP @ 5,500-6,250 rpm; 516 LB-FT @ 1,750-4,500 rpm
non-S: 469 HP @ 5,500-6,250rpm; 479 LB-FT @ 1,750-4,500rpm
Diff: 34 HP and 37 LB-FT

Actual (as measured by RENNech):

S: 545 HP @ 6,150 RPM; 550 LB-FT @ 3,700-4,700 RPM
non-S: 526 HP @ 6,250rpm; 532 LB-FT @ 4,600rpm
Diff: 19 HP and 18 HP

(If you want to see some really crazy numbers, look at the E63S. Mercedes lists it at 603 HP and the actual is 685 HP. The C63S is identical to the GLC63S, if you were wondering).

Keep in mind, in a NON S, you still have a "race start" mode where you can launch at whatever RPMs you wish.

Unfortunately you can't get the S without the stupid looking roof in the US so I brought the GLC63 SUV. I do wish it had the Master Race mode. I'm getting the car tuned so the HP difference out of the factory is not a concern.

LOL i hear you buddy. I like the suv look better but I'm not apposed to either since I had both. BS we can't get the s model in the USA but at least its just motor mounts and tune is really the only difference except for race mod which I'm unsure how much difference that really is.
