Success! Multibeam headlights on my 43 in the US!

Hi Guys - I have successfully enabled Multibeam headlights in my 2020 GLC 43!

First, if you're not familiar with this technology, have a look:

I went with the upgrade offered by Vladimir in Russia, who many people on these forums have worked with in the past. He has listings on eBay, but the best way to contact him for availability and pricing is to email him at canfiltermb@gmail.com. Send him your VIN and that you want the Multibeam feature turned on. He'll get back to you quickly to let you know if he can do it. (Note that I also had him add the ECO Start On/Off upgrade, so I no longer need to turn ECO off every time I start the car. SO worth it!)

Assuming your car is eligible, Vladimir will send you an OBD2 plug, a MicroSD card reader, and a MicroSD card for each upgrade(s) you buy. He must have a guy in Canada, because the package showed up within a few days via DHL from Ontario. Simply pop open the OBD2 plug, insert the MicroSD card, and plug it into the OBD socket under the steering wheel (you need your ignition set to ON, meaning hit the Start button twice without your foot on the brake). Wait about 4 minutes for the upgrade to install, and that's basically it!

I had some problems getting my Multibeam upgrade to work, so Vladimir and I went back and forth for about a week, with him sending me new update files daily to load onto the MicroSD card. My guess is that he hadn't worked on a 2020 GLC 43 before, so he was figuring it out with me as a guinea pig. We ended up trying several iterations of the upgrade until one finally worked. If you have a 2020 GLC 43 you most likely will not have to go through this trouble. I only mention it because it shows that Vladimir was super responsive and made sure that the job got done. As others have said, he is the real deal!

I love my new multibeams! After driving around in the dark with my brights on for nearly two hours last night, not a single car flashed me to say 'your brights are on'. And you could visibly see the box of darkness the headlights were casting on the cars I was following, so light didn't hit their rearview mirrors. Plus, street signs didn't reflect back at me with the power of the sun. It really works!

Sorry for the length of this post, but I'm super pumped about this. PM me with any questions!

Congrats man! Now if Valdimir can get the dashcam activated that would be cool... +1 on price info... Thanks!

I don't know my friend. I wrote them an email to the address that appears on
Amazon's US product listing Amazon's US product listing
(mercedesbenzmodule@gmail.com), and got back an email saying that it does not work yet for a 2020 GLC43.

Almost 800 bucks to make my lights bend for corners, roundabouts, not throw glare.......

I think I will spend my money elsewhere...

maybe if it was 75 or max 100 dollars there might be some incentive to purchase this, but not 800 dollars

I will pass

OP do you have any video of yours working in action? Does it do all the things shown in the E-class video?

Tbh a little disappointed in the LED headlights in our 2020 GLC63 and the high beams are a joke.

Sorry guys, I wasn't monitoring this thread like I should have.

I paid about $500 when you include shipping. Keep in mind that I ordered the Multibeam upgrade AND the ECO On/Off upgrade, so Vladimir put together one single price for both. I'm guesstimating here as to what the Multibeam portion cost.

@nacholaw Not sure who you emailed, but I don't think it was Vladimir. I can confirm that it works for a 2020 GLC 43. I see it with my own eyes.

As for whether it's worth it to you folks, I'm not the boss of you. I like having my brights on in the dark. For a car that costs $70k, I'm not quibbling over the extra money. Your call.

Well, $500 for both is acceptable but that’s not the price he has it listed on Amazon. Can you send me his email address to ask the question myself?

Also, you have the lighting package, correct?

Thanks!

Sorry, should have been more clear. Just the Multibeam portion was about $500. The ECO On/Off was another $150 or so. His email is canfiltermb@gmail.com
Yes, this is the Multibeam lighting that Europe and the UK gets but not us. Just like the video I posted up top.

Thanks Tim! I’ll email Valdimir.

One thing that I’m not clear is whether your car came with the exterior lighting package (extra $800) and thus it works. I’m afraid that if you don’t have that package then multibeam will not work.

I’ll email Vladimir.

Ah, gotcha now. Yes, I have the $800 exterior lighting package. Not sure if that has anything to with it or not - good question though!
Also, when you email him, include your VIN.

You must have the upgraded lights for this to work, but he will ask for your VIN and will tell you if it is not compatible. The upgrade is worth it. It is so much more than just adaptive high beams. If you live in a rural area and drive a lot at night, it is a game changer. I was the guinea pig for the facelift W212 line, so I was the first 2016 E-class that Vladimir activated. It's been great ever since.

Thanks! I gave him the VIN at first and he responded that it would work. However, I had the doubt as to whether he actually checked, so I told him that I don’t have the u$d800 lighting option, to which he responded that it would not work... Oh well, I’ll save the money for the dashcam activator🙏🤞

Ahh lame, sorry to hear that!

Regarding the dashcam activator, are you referring to that guy in Singapore who just announced he can do dashcam, wireless CarPlay, and Adaptive Driving Assistance? Because I sent some messages to him and wasn’t too impressed. I’ll be waiting/hoping on Vladimir to get these things done instead.

Yeah, that guy! I sent him an email but got it kicked back... How did you get ahold of him?

But yeah, I have better hopes with Vladimir than the guy from Singapore...

Yep, Max Yao is his name. I messaged him directly on Facebook. He responded...eventually. I said I had option code 549, which he said was required for the dashcam unlock. I also asked him about wireless carplay and the ADA feature (the one that has adaptive cruise control and the other driver assistance features). Weirdly, he came back to me saying out of all those things, only the ADA feature would work. No dashcam, no wireless carplay.

Okay, so I bit. I asked him how much for the ADA only, and he said €1200 EURO, or $1346 USD! The MSRP from Mercedes on that is $1700, and I couldn't confirm with him whether we get ALL of the ADA features. His only response was "Response + Button", which doesn't mean anything to me. Maybe someone else knows what he's talking about.

Anyway, his poor response time, conflicting info, confusing messages, and high price was a deal-breaker. I'm going to keep an eye on Vladimir instead.

For the wireless carplay, and the dashcam there seems to be an infotainment update FUP3, which then allow for those 2 features to be activated. That update seems that it must be done at the dealership and not OTA. My dealership states that they are not aware of such an update. Maybe someone else has better luck!

I sent an email to Vladimir asking him to tell me if he ever figures out Dashcam, ADA, or Wireless/Full Screen Car Play. Maybe some of these things are being developed by Mercedes (aka FUP3), but never hurts to ask Vladimir. I'll let y'all know!

Vladimir got back to me. He says he's working on dashcam and wireless/fullscreen Apple Car Play. However, due to covid restrictions he can't do the testing. I'm sure he'll let us know when it's available.
