Want to change out the Continental tires on my 2019 MB GLC43 AMG SUV with Michelin’s. Thoughts?

Excellent idea. I have the 21" tires, so I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and had to go one size larger, which will fit. The fit size is 265/40/21" and 295/35/21". The wear is definitely better than the Contis.

I just ordered Pilot Sport A/S 4’s - 255/40/21 and 295/35/21. The sidewall thickness is now virtually spot-on for front and rear, and the steering / front-end handling stays near stock with same width and similar weight on the front tire. Aesthetically, I’m not a fan of tire bulge caused by wider tread than the rim supports, but better just the rears than both front and rear I guess.

Strangely, no site had both the fronts and the rears in these sizes, so had to order the fronts from Tirerack and the rears from Walmart. Never spent so much time finding tires.

Similar boat on the GLC43 but with 20" wheels and stock Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season RoF that are quiet toasty at this point. Regardless of my vehicles over the I've always had great results with Michelin tires. In order to keep the revs and r/f ratio close I am about to order 255/40/20 and 285/35/20. Had to go with pilot sport AS3s as the newer AS4s don't have the 20" wheel size. I'll loose 1/2" of sidewall but I'm sure the ride will be much better that the run flats.

Haven't had a chance to contact my dealer about a speedo recalibration. Has anyone done that on a wheel/tire size change?

ARE THERE ANY FITMENT ISSUES WITH THE WIDER 295/35/21 REAR TIRES? I'M TRYING TO SWITCH TO ALL-WEATHER TIRES AND THERE ARE NO 285/35/21 IN AN ALL-WEATHER TREAD.......

My GLC43 came with the Continental ContiSport summer tires which I absolutely hated! In the rain in SC I couldn't get over 34-40 mph without hydroplaning. I searched for weeks until I found Pirelli Scorpions. I wanted all 4 replaced and wanted them to match. I put 265/40 R21 105Y on the front and 295/35 R21 107Y on the rear. Night and day difference, smooth ride, and best of all, I'm not concerned with driving 70mph in the rain! I replaced the ContiSports at 8,000 miles and couldn't give them away!

Hello 2minpins,
Did you have any fitment issues with the larger tire sizes? (i.e. rubbing when in the Sport Mode lower ride height).
265/40-21 front, and 295/35/21 rear
According to the online tire size calculators, both of the wider sizes are approximately 0.40" wider than the stock widths.
I too, and looking to ditch the OEM Conti Extreme Contact max performance summer tires which crab like crazy in temps below 70 degrees.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi Widman ,
Thanks for your information regarding the lager 21" tires for the GLC 43. Have you experienced any rubbing issues (in the lower Sport Mode ride height setting) with the 265/40 front and 295/35 rear tires? Thanks very much in advance.

There should be no issues at all with those tire sizes if you are running oem sized wheels with their offsets. If you are using aftermarket wheels with more aggressive offsets then you may run into rubbing issues.
