GLC 63 AMG ordered, a few questions.

Just bought my first Mercedes this week. Been driving BMW's and Lexus for my DD's over the years along with exotics for my fun day car. There doesn't seem to be any deals on the GLC63 where I live in Texas. Even the 2020's, the most they'll knock off is about $4500. I found a local dealer that would spec a 2021 for $1K over invoice and ordered. I ordered a Polar white w/ Black Nappa seats. Options are Drivers assist, Heads up, Night pkg, Pano Roof, Ext Lighting pkg, 21" Multi spoke black wheels, Ventillated front seats, AMG Drive, Wireless charger, Rear spoiler lip in high gloss black, Natural grain grey oak wood, Dash cam and Mercedes assistant. So here;s my questions:

1. Are they any must have options I should add, or anything that was really a waste of money and that you regret ordering?
2. How reliable are these cars as far as engine and transmission? I know all cars have electric glitches with all the ECU's in them, but I'm more interested in the driveline parts and air bag suspension.
3. If I don't order the tow hitch from the factory, Can I order the hitch and wire harness from MB and do it myself? I've done all that and coded the rear camera on my BMW so I'm not worried about the "know how"

I bought a 2018 GLC 63. No hitch was available because of the hatch release kick sensor. I thought that I was going to add an after market. I found that you can do that but you will disable the sensor. Ordered cars are available my way for dealer invoice. Catonsville, MD has them shipped to any dealer for that price. I would go with the AMG performance seats again in a heartbeat. I know that takes away the vented option for you but here in Michigan heated seats > vented seats.

How does that work? Do you order from the dealer in MD and when it arrives at the port they just divert it to my local dealership? I can’t imagine how my local dealership would treat me if I did that to them. It’s amazing how dealerships treat you for service if you didn’t buy your car from them. I learned that with a Lexus dealership years ago.

I thought about ordering them, but this Texas heat is brutal. All my cars get good ceramic window film, including the windshield and ventilated seat.

Interesting. It is still listed in all of the dealer ordering guides and available to spec' on the 2021 models on the german configurator.

One other item i am happy with is the aero package; i was unsure on that and was/is worth it seeing the car in person.

You can purchase a Stealth-Hitch, which I have had on 3 different SUVs and have a local installer or a Mercedes Dealership install it. It is awesome because when you remove the receiver, which is a 5 second job, there is no sign of a trailer hitch whatsoever.

Even if their website doesn't list a hitch for you model, call the guy, he will probably just build you one. I believe the one for my 2019 AMG 63s was listed for a GLC 300. Mercedes wanted $600 for the install and a indy shop did it for around $450. They basically pull of your bumper. install it and put your bumper back on. All sensors and hands free tailgate work as normal.

I did the exact same hitch on my wife’s last X5. Wired their OEM harness and ecu into the BMW slot and everything worked as factory. Only took about 3hrs. Also coded the rear camera for trailer view.

I live in MD and feared that treatment after purchasing my Benz in PA. Spoke to 2 dealers in my area and they said, what?, just bring the car in.

Btw, got $9K off sticker and a fair trade-in.

On my AMG GLC 63s Coupe I ordered: Carbon Ceramic brakes. They are exceptional. Carbon fiber rear spoiler (have to order part from dealer) with dealer install. Carbon fiber mirrors. Aero package.

-I almost ordered mines without the AMG drive unit because I didn't want the steering wheel to be too cluttered. I ended up adding it a few days later and glad I did. I use it every day.
-I could've went without the drivers assistance package because I rarely use cruise control for my driving. It is a drivers car after all.
-I didn't option the exterior lighting package because we get most of the neat features neutered in the US. But I later found out out you can get the full features unlocked with a OBD II dongle. Regret not getting this.
-I went back and forth with the sport seat option. Ended up not getting it because I use ventilated seats a lot. But sometime I still wish I had it. If only MB offered ventilated sport seats.

Driver assist is more than just a cruise control feature. There a ton of emergency braking and lane keeping features. I've gotten used to this stuff and its kind of nice if you start to drift to another lane it pulls you back and keeps you in the lane.

I would definitely order the CCB's if they were an option on the GLC SUV, unfortunately they're not.
