Damn I'm grateful I got my 2021 GLC 63 last December! This new GLC 63 and C63 engine and exhaust aren't impressive at all.

It may not sound like much, but it looks mean. I may be interested in that 63e since my 2022 was cancelled. Have to wait until the unveiling.

What's the point of buying any Amg 63 vehicle of any series if it has no natural or biturbo V8 and no Amg exhaust sound?

Or why call it a 63?

Pure marketing nowadays imo, 63 no longer has a meaning for the W206 and X254. I am guessing it only indicates that it is the most expensive model of the lineup.

I wish I could, but that train has left the station. I'm not interested in a used car, V8 or not. This is the future until they find an alternative to poor gas mileage ICEs.
I want the sound and feel of the V8, but my order was cancelled. I need a new car in the next few years, and if this one performs superior to the current versions, and gets better fuel economy, then I'm all for it.
AMG is known for performance and sound. The future, well, now it's just about performance.

I’m all for the future and all, even LOVE electric vehicles quite a lot, even more than many Dino-juice versions yet…I will neither love nor accept a 4-banger in a SUV such as the GLC 63/s variant.

A full E-vehicle version sure, however the Merc battery tech is just not there yet and they are behind quite a lot even to that of Porsche.

So I have decided to move on. I placed an order for a 2022 BMW M550i sedan this weekend. Now waiting for an allocation. I test drove a 2018 model, and while it only had 456 horsepower (compared to the 2022 with 523), it was very comfortable and extremely fast.
The 2022 runs a 3.6 sec 0-60 mph time, making it comparable to the GLC 63S. Not bad for a mid-sized sedan.
Most of the options that are being left out of the Mercedes vehicles, come standard or are still available in the BMW. Plus the twin turbo V8 is still available.
I never had the chance to test drive a 63 or 63S, but after driving the BMW I realized it made more sense.

I think Mercedes will have to learn their lesson the hard way. The 4 cylinder experience is not worth upwards of $100K. I hate those silent running EV appliances (don't give a sh about how fast they go) so I'm very biased against and wouldn't pay that kind of money for those golf carts either. There will be performance 6's and 8's at other manufacturers and there's the used car market to keep us happy. Folks don't fear the gas prices, they will come back down soon enough, or we have a lot more problems to worry about than this.

Unfortunately the way we treat the earth - with all that entails; it is inevitable we transition to better options.

All the comments knocking the future engine are hilarious to me...because it's exactly what people said when AMG switched to a blower from the NA V8. Shouldn't be called a 63...not a true AMG...etc etc lol.

Yeah but it still was a true V8 with a decent displacement and sound.

That's not what people were saying back then! In fact they were complaining about the sound and how a turbo would change that lol. I love the sound of a good v8, but in the future the sound possibilities will be endless because manufacturers can choose to produce whatever sound they want. Imagine a futuristic propulsion sound...while not immediately in our future...the world is changing, it's coming and people will laugh that we used to use gas...like a horse and buggy.

Actually in 10-15 years there won't be any v8 or v-anything options for sale from any manufacturer in many places due to EV laws. I'm probably gonna keep my GLC63 as long as it makes sense but how long that actually is, we'll see.

Outside the US there have probably been far more non V8 AMG cars than V8....and we already have 4 cylinder AMG cars....so it no big surprise that they will get more powerful and replace the V6 and 8 models....its a lot easier to lower the emissions on a 4 pot turbo than a multi cylinder big inch engine
We are car enthusiasts. Being on a car forum at all tells us that (I'm on several!).....but most regular car drivers could not care less about how many cylinders its got or the sound it makes. Got 550 plus horses?....check...Got decent MPG.....Check.......Less greenhouse gas?....check. Sold to the man at the back with the tweed jacket!!
