Seat swap. GLC63 to GLC43

Hello. Looking for input or any possible hiccups on a seat swap from a 19 GLC63 to a 17 GLC43. I currently have the leather optioned seats in my GLC43 that I find to be lacking in side bolstering. I have found seats from a 19 GLC 63 that I'm looking to purchase but wanted to see if anyone had done a seat swap. I'm sure they will mount the same but wondering if the seat control module or any other electronic/computer issues will bite me. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I wonder if you need to code the modules.

I was wondering the same thing. After thinking about it more, I could install the module that's in my 17 seat into the new 63 seat. That way the computer doesn't know the difference unless it doesn't get a specific signal it's looking/coded for.

Good idea, is it VIN specific though? Need to compare them two.

Swapping the regular seats for the performance seats results in airbag error codes. They are not a direct swap. Have not seen a success story. All the attempts I have seen resulted in aforementioned airbag error codes and no follow up on whether they were able to resolve them. The AMG Performance seats have more features. For example they can adjust the side bolsters.

The seats I'm looking at are not the full blown recaro style performance seats and don't have the additional adjustment for the bolsters on the side. They just have the circular adjuster on the side like my current 43 has.

I think I'm gonna get my local dealer parts dept to compare my 43vin and the 63vin for the seat module compatibility and go from there.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm just trying to talk it out. I've been researching for a few days now with not a lot of concrete results.

Ah, your pictures were too small. I see it now. The seats you are showing are effectively the same seats. There's nothing different in the 63 seats, other than material, stitching and logo. There are only two seats. The standard sport seats and the AMG Performance seats. Both were available for the 43 and 63. The difference was just material. 63S had Nappa leather standard and 43 had MB-Tex standard. Leather and Nappa leather could be optioned for extra cost. Why do you want to swap the seats exactly? They don't offer more support. The pictures are misleading if that's what you are going by.

The bolsters on my 43 seats are deep but very thin in thickness. The ones I'm considering sure appear to be quite a bit larger and thicker in the side bolster. Here's a better angle of both. Maybe I need to find a used one for sale on a to try them on for size.

They certainly do lock skinnier, perhaps worn. Not sure if the seats got updated between 2017 and 2019. Here's a pic of the seats in a 2019 GLC 43. The ones you are showing above also have ventilation. You can see the perforated leather.

I think it's related to the 17 & 18 models. My 17 lastvin data card shows my seat option as 221A . All the 17's & 18's I searched online for sale with what appear to be the thicker bolster seats show 241A .

Thanks man. The more info I can gather the better.

I also just confirmed that my 17 seat controller module part number matches the one in the 63 seats I'm looking at. I'm getting closer to feeling good about it working.

Update: Seat control modules are VIN specific. So I would need to install my current 43 control modules in the 63 seats or have the 63 modules coded to my vin.

I have the AMG seats in my 2017 GLC43. You are correct to use back the seat control modules and will lose some of the original functions; including the seat position memory function as well.

Update: Seat swap completed. I purchased the seats and had them installed. We reused my original seat control module and my seat belt tensioner. Everything worked. Airbag light did have to be reset after the install. Apparently it gets triggered when you disconnect and remove a seat.
