The size of cup that will fit looks the same to me governed by the hole size since the prongs retract for a larger cup/bottle. Your picture is of the standard non heated so that may be the difference. Without the piece you show it looks like a smaller cup might tilt foreword if that one prong is missing. Maybe a picture would help clarify your concern.
When I posted the picture yesterday I didn't have my vehicle with me to take a picture, instead I just used a Google search photo. I'll take a picture here in a bit and show you what I'm talking about. Maybe my model is no different than any other 450 w/a cooling and heating cup holder, but having the prongs for securing the drink not be retractable is a "mild" letdown and a first-world problem. Otherwise I'm very happy with the purchase.

Where is there a 1/2 inch offset between the front and rear tires Greg? In width for the R20's I'm guessing? Also does this have any bearing If I'm to use the standard spare in the trunk? Thanks.

Here's my cup holder. Maybe I'm clueless and all GLE 450's with heated/cooled cup holders have this type of single folding prong for holding your drinks, but I've only seen the retractable one I posted earlier in Youtube reviews and test driving another 450 before purchase.

99% sure that's what mine looks like with the folding prong and heated/cooled option, but I don't have those cool MB coaster-like things on the bottom! Mine is an October 2019 build.

Why is a good question! I have the 20’s also. I had mine rotated at about 12k and had to have them removed and RF balanced again. Waste of money because soon after I decided to get a GLE53.
My theory is they did it for looks since my winter tires have the same offset front & rear with lots of clearance for the brakes. Another possibility is that it handles a little better with a wider front stance-if it does it’s lost on me. My Michelin’s seem to be wearing decent but I noticed that tread depth new is only 9.5 vs most others are normally 11. It may be related to the speed rating or maybe the rubber compound is improved.
Your wheels are et 44 rear-et 57 front. That’s mm so it translates to the wheels being about a 1/2” difference. My winter wheels are et 45 front and back and they really don’t look much different on the car.

Good to know. Guess all my assumptions were wrong with a possible refresh since it was manufactured last month, but hey I'm new with the 450. Anyways those coasters are on Amazon if you're interested

Here's a good comparison and explanation of wheel offset. Your front wheels are on the left and rear on the right. It has to do with where the mounting plane of the wheel is in relation to its width.

I think you got that reversed - the 44 mm rear offset sticks out further.

2020 GLE 350 4Matic / Night Package / Premium Package / 21" Wheels
Hi Everyone,

Hopefully not too sad to post in here... my poor new GLE-350 has crossed the proverbial rainbow bridge.

At first glance it did not look too, bad, but closer inspection revealed the collision to the front, passenger corner (including all the grill & fender substructures), rim & tire, fender, hood, A-pillar, front passenger door, rear passenger door, rear quarter panel and even the rear bumper cover. The fluid leaking from between firewall & front tire was not windshield washer fluid...

Once the repair estimates approached $50K (CAD), and with as yet-to-be-determined engine & HUD issues, the good folks at the insurance company decided to determine the vehicle a total loss.Thankfully.

Damn @bikedude sorry... hope everyone got out okay. Really surprised, it doesn't look bad, as you said. Was it another vehicle that it impacted?

Hi - yes; a very nice, young motorist was driving an early 2000s Chevy Silverado truck (aka: tank). That truck jumped a yield sign to my right, and tried to turn left (from its point of view) in front of me. The truck's front, driver-side corner connected with my front passenger-side corner; the impact spun my front counter-clockwise, causing the truck to also connect along my side and even rear.
I think the worst of the collision impact went into the front rim; that damaged the suspension, steering and must even have caused harm to the engine... as evidenced by the engine fluid leak coming from behind the wheel/ahead of the firewall. When the GLE came to a stop there was an audible 'tick' in the engine, and I could no longer see the Heads-up display?
To the GLE's credit: the truck driver emerged from a semi-blocked intersection; from its point of view it could not cleanly "see around" a huge travel camper trailer - hence, the truck "went for it", and accelerated... sadly I was in its way. The GLE spotted the truck, and although I started braking, its collision avoidance tried to additionally hammer the brakes, too; I felt that, the seat belt tighten and heard the pre-collision sound over the speakers. (Interestingly, no airbags deployed?)
After it was all over the center display showed that it had 'detected a collision', and if I wanted to contact Roadside Assistance; when I finally pushed yes, it even had the coordinates, addresses and VIN displayed... turns out the Roadside operator asked those questions for confirmation.
I was the only occupant in GLE... came away with my cage rattled, stiff neck & sore hip - also an even sore-er wrist, as I had recently shattered it mountain biking. Doh!
Thanks for asking!

Looking closer the additional damage is obvious but the car looks surprisingly good for a collision that bad. Sorry you had to be the unlucky one...could happen to any of us.

I guess it did its job, it saved you from harm. Will you be getting a GLE again?

Hi - yes, I believe the GLE did keep me from worse, thank you.

In answer to your question - yes! With the insurance cheque in hand, we did have to opportunity to consider some alternatives, and I confess we did look at the X5 (M-Sport) and XC-90 (Inscription) - both were very nice-looking vehicles, and on some levels appealed to us very much. However, as much as we wanted to like the XC90, its interior road noise (especially at highway speeds) was unfathomable - it was almost as if having the window up or down made no difference... most confusing. (The B&W Sound System was equally puzzling - every interior panel rattled relentlessly - we even tried a second one, just to ensure we hadn't sat in a dud...?). The X5's engine is glorious, and combined with its 8-speed transmission was incredible - not unlike having a little rocket strapped on. Road noise was better than the XC90, but still nowhere near the silence of the GLE - the Benz boys have that figured out, big time. Both "competing" digital dashes (cockpits?) do not come close to the clarity, configurability and beauty of the GLE, and the seating ergonomics of the GLE reign supreme...
So, it's back to the lap of luxury again - now the waiting game for another GLE begins.
Thanks for asking!
