I don't know why MBUSA doesn't get that this is terrible PR coming from their best customers. What percentage of sales are custom orders? I really don't know I would guess 25-35%. Most people just see what's on the lot. Maybe that is a factor. But those of us that care enough to try to get exactly what we want, that are MBCA members, that promote the brand ought to be treated better. It's just totally rude to leave people hanging like that (not to mention the dealers).

I am out of word to b*itch about this whole ordering situation. Give me a date and I will decide if I want to wait for it or not. Didn’t people mentioned they figure their **** out already ? Then it won’t be too hard to give me a date correct ?
Well, I returned from vacation on the 19th of June, and I got a call from the dealer saying my car arrived the same day. Yay!
I went in the next day to see it and start some paperwork. Since our lease was extended one month (payment passed June 15th), we didn't want to pay and "lose" that amount for only one week's worth of use. As such, we will take delivery after the 10th of July.
The staff really loved the Emerald Green Metallic colour. When we saw the finance guy, he said, "Oh, so you're the ones that ordered the green GLE! Amazing choice".

I placed my order February 14th, and it arrived by rail in Montreal and delivered to the dealer on June 19th. So 4 months total.
A few words from Europe. I ordered my GLE 300d at the beginning of March. The dealer claimed that delivery will be in July. I was waiting politely for any news.
Finally, I was able to sell my old car 3 weeks ago so I asked the dealer if he knows a more specific date for delivery.
The dealer said that my order is not even planned for production yet because of a huge delay. Supposedly MB is still realizing orders from 2018.
There are rumors that MB has a problem with this model.

" The Federal Road Transport Authority of Germany (Kraftfahrtbundesamt-KBA) has forced Daimler AG, the parent company of Mercedes Benz, will remove some 60,000 GLK 220 CDI vehicles from circulation. The order was issued last Friday after authorities confirmed that all-terrain diesel vehicles manufactured between 2012 and 2015, was equipped with an illegal software aimed at reducing emissions of toxic gases."
Maybe this is also an issue?
I am really disappointed and I don't know what to do. Is there a real problem with this car or just a new model launching and distribution hiccup?
If I knew about it I wouldn't have sold my car. At this moment I have no car. For now, I ride my motorcycle to work. My vacation plans are ruined. What's more, the dealer still doesn't know when the car might be delivered.
I have been driving a Mercedes car for the last 10 years. I wanted to be a loyal customer and stay with the MB buying a new car.
In this situation with no information at all, I probably will go to another brand.

Placed order in May. Was originally told Delivery would be end of June. Now it's end of July. Anything to be concerned about?
Also, our specs were frozen (no changes) almost a week after the order was placed (so way before delivery). Is that normal? Any way to still make tweaks?

Very good English! There are many problems but deliveries continue. No one but Mercedes seems to have many facts. I’ve had my GLE for 2 months and love it. BMW is having issues and might not be a good choice. JLR vehicles have a problems consistently. Audi may do a little better but they are more limiting on options and seem higher priced. There are not a lot of good choices for an alternative.
All the Tech is nice but it seems to affect the Manufacturers ability to maintain the quality. Add that to the other complexities of dealing with Suppliers of Components and this might be the future of new releases.

I am in the same boat - ordered May 4th and still no allocation. I am still able to make changes. Dealer is guesstimating late September delivery but this is all a guess at this point.

How were you able to find out that your particular car is parked in a lot? That's the question I've been asking the dealer about, how would I know if my car was sitting out there waiting on a fix?

Just got a call from my dealer. The vehicle was built *without 8 options ordered*, including 3rd row seat. Dealer is so po'd they are apoplectic. Now have the upward chain at MB involved, and should know more tomorrow. Sales associate thinks one of two options will happen. Give me the current car when delivered as a loaner, and wait for mine to come it (Dealer re-ordered it about 3 weeks ago), OR, there is a car in Miami, that is my car, identical, sitting on lot, not sold. Trying to get that one brought to me. Not holding my breath for any of it!! Can you believe it? All this for an order placed December 5, 2018

I got a text from my SA today saying she's going to look for a similar build from nearby dealerships (spoiler alert: there are none). I appreciate her effort, but I fear that doesn't bode well for me.

What an absurd situation. I am surprised I haven't seen other car makers taking advantage of the situation. Their marketing teams can have a field day with the GLE fiasco.

Dealer texted me back today offering to get me into an $85K 2019 GLS for $70K. It's tempting, as it's nearly fully loaded, but I think I'd regret not having the redesigned model.

I think you're right. I always get the new model at launch so it remains fresh as long as possible. The dated nature of the last gen would grate on you every day more than the thought of the money you saved. And part of your savings would go away when you sold/traded, I'm sure they're anxious to get rid of all the '19s.
my theory on why certain order will be deliver faster than the other disregarding to the order date is, I think they just park the car out at the lot without little to no planning. At the time I am guessing they thought the problem is short term, so car are pretty much park not in order numbers. My car could be stuck deep in the middle of the lot, dose not make sense to move all the cars out just to get my car back to the factory. So right now I think its just luck who's car gets build at what date. They could be working on car that are park on the most expensive lease term to the cheapest due to cost saving.
