The dealership at here told me today that new order for GLE only need 3-4 months, and that is what exactly the dealership told us at the beginning.

To be honest that doesn't seem plausible. A specific dealer may have used all of their allocations and be waiting longer than others for delivery of new orders. But there is also a projected slow down in auto sales. Finding out about a dealers next allocation que might be the place to start. Projecting anything out 6-8 months is futile, IMO. My guess is that a base 350 might be available much sooner than a loaded 450 with E-ABC.
It will be interesting to see how successful Mercedes is with completing the 40,000 cars sitting in storage in Alabama and Germany. That was their announced priority for the next few months.

Obviously, we're all at the mercy of the misinformation and general lack of transparency coming from MBUSA, but the reorder I placed in June is currently scheduled for production in 2D of November, so it's looking like six months at a minimum for me. I would love to be proven wrong, but 6-8 months sounds like the more plausible timeline right now.

That makes sense. For clarity's sake, I was inquiring about a well-equipped 450. It didn't have the 3rd-row option and the dealer noted that the only 450s they had coming in were already sold. He said I could place an order, but it would take 6-8 months. So, as you noted, their build allocations are probably used up for a while.

That said, my June reorder — for which my dealer had a build allocation scheduled for September — has already slipped to November, and will take a minimum of 6 months between order and delivery (and that's if everything goes perfectly from here on out). I'm skeptical that new orders will take three months. Again, I hope I'm wrong for other buyers' sakes.

I guess that I was pretty lucky. I ordered my GLE 350 - well equipped with third row seats (List price was $78K) in the second week of June and it was delivered last Friday - so a little under three months.

350s have been moving much faster than 450s it seems.

I wonder if your original order is one of the stored units? The logistics of pulling them from storage and matching the missing parts might become a nightmare. If it’s all seats and bumpers maybe not too bad but there are still the different colors and options like AMG bumpers and Multi Contour Seats. Maybe that’s where the 25 new engineers are heading.

A gaggle of MB's
Let me be helpful - and clear - with the features on your "2nd order" - and the # of comparable's on order to NE Region - compared to the actual # with that spec that have been delivered to NE so far - at this moment you have less than 50% chance of your GLE being delivered to you this year.

It either will be delivered - or not - but at this moment unless something changes in the data at hand - it's in the hands of the CarGod's...

Yeah, I know. I'm skeptical MBUSA will even get my rig produced in November as it is currently scheduled. Hence the debate between being patient and getting the build we want for less $, or just spending a few thousand more for something else so we can have it sooner.

Not sure why you put the quotes around "2nd order."

Yes, my first order is one of the units in storage, as far as I can tell. IIRC, it got pulled from production sometime in mid- to late-March. The second order hasn't begun production yet.

This might offend people working at MB, but fu*k that. Why make it sound like buying a car is all about luck. This is a business and they are doing it in a extremely unprofessional way. I respect how others want to put this in their own prospective, but I see it this way.

I don’t think it’s gonna be possible. There are only two places for producing car which are Alabama and Germany. By now we’ve already need 6-8 months for one car, how can they make 40,000 per year.

They don’t produce the GLE in Germany, Alabama is the only production site. There are pictures and news articles showing the cars sitting stored. By the time my car was built in April there were almost 40,000 built. Now serial numbers are over twice that high. They have the capacity to produce about 100M but not the parts.

I’ve made order on Feb. By now it’s already 7 months, and Mercedes had an announcement about all GLE are delay between April and May. So I don’t think that we can just wait 6-8 months.

2018 E63S wagon, 2016 GLE350d, GLE450 on order
My initial order was in January, reordered "allegedy" mid August. However, I have been emailing my dealership weekly since, which happens to be MB Canada head office, and have been getting the run-around as to if the vehicle has even hit production. I have no new VIN which says alot

Same thing here from Canada side, MB Canada act like they are also the victim of the delay. Not much you can do.

Exactly! I have purchased many vehicles from them, i am sure like most people here, and the run-around is just ridiculous.

Just got some news while vacationing, that my order from May is now pushed to October due to "they started with some production issues again".
Original production date was September 1st then it was pushed to the 9th, afterwards the 27th and now late October.
I will stop by the dealership to see how they are planning on handling this especially because I have a trade-in which now has 7,500 more miles on.
My financing was already setup before for September now I would have to redo everything meaning another hard inquiry on my Credit Report.
So all of this is costing me real money in current vehicle maintenance, having to do now inspection and new registrations for current vehicle + 2x hard inquiries.

I think at this point they should/could at least tell customer what the production issue is (abc, seats, etc...). My order is supposedly on track for sept delivery, but who knows......

I just had the exact same news, times lines and all, they might build mine 3rd decade of October. Called MB USA and got a case # and waited for a callback. They called back about 5 hours after I received the case number. I explained similar issues (I haven't done anything credit-wise yet) but don't wish to buy tires or pay for additional maintenance. I also explained that I do not wish to be held accountable for the lase turn-in fee if this drags on too much longer, I am ready to get out of the GLC as the tires are too damn noisy even though they have plenty of tread. I explained to the MB rep while I know that the lease is with MB Financial, not MB USA but since MBF is willing to eat up to three payments and a lease turn-in fee if I purchase or lease another new MB, I may expect MB USA to help make the turn-in fee disappear in the event they fail to deliver an acceptable vehicle withina reasonable timeframe and to put this into the notes as well. Not sure if that will happen next.

What did happen after the call I received an email that is good for an additional $1,000 off a new MB and is valid for one year.
