The front was easy since I could cramp the wheels out of the way. The back took most of the time and I tried a lot of tools to work with a few fasteners. After winters over I will replace some screws with black Aluminum rivets as I change back to AS tires in Spring. There are only two 10mm nuts in front and bolt screws in back, the rest are push darts and I added a couple of screws here and there. These look to be OEM-they have 2019 GLE stamped on them, the year they are noted everywhere but the US. Likely an extra factory run that they kept to sell on Amazon.
Edit-Forgot there were 4 rivets to drill....one on each wheel.

NOT AVAILABLE IN UK.

I'm certain they're practical, especially in Winter, but not sure I can bring myself to do it. IMO they are just too practical LOOKING for a stylish vehicle. I may change my mind after a few months of rain/snow!

Around here they use sand with rocks and salt/Mag chloride. My lower trim piece already had a paint chip. I'm thinking it will get sand blasted without the guards.

Understand. We don't have that much here. Another option might be an area of clear bra (Xpel) behind each wheel well. My M4 came with that from the factory.

Mine throws up debri on the sides of the car because the lower body portion is inset from the tire tread. While the tire is inside the wheel well at top, it is outside at the bottom of the car. I doubt that the Mud Guard will stop the dirt and snow from hitting the side of the car but might help. It's the "road mix" gravel being used that contains lots of small rock that will be kicked up and hit the side, particularly the lower trim piece that replaces the running boards and maybe the lower door panel. At freeway speeds there will be some force behind the rocks.

A few days ago my user pic from Mercedes Me started showing up at startup for the first time since I took delivery in April. It has been consistently there for about a week now.
Also the programming to turn off Lane Keep has been successful with no aberrations...I can switch it on or off and it remains at that setting.

Odd one on site now, my car which has always shown as a Selenite grey one in a showroom, now shows as a car with a cover over it in a showroom!.

I was driving my son to soccer yesterday afternoon in a torrential downpour and hit a large puddle on the highway. My 450 began to hydroplane, but I felt the power switch to the two passenger-side wheels and it straightened me right out. I happened to have the gauge cluster set to display the 4MATIC and I could see the power shift to those wheels when I glanced down. I was pretty impressed with how quickly it reacted and helped me regain control of the truck. Made me feel pretty good about the safety systems.

Has anyone seen any parts and/or mods come out already for the GLE?

Mine is bugging out this week - normally I have it set to ask to restore previous driving mode (e.g. Individual or Sport) and auto-off setting (e.g. OFF). Now it asks, but only restores the auto-off setting, not the driving mode anymore. (it always gets stuck in Comfort).

I wonder if the 10,000+ reduction in Mercedes employees will impact needed Tech updates to fix glitches. Things don't appear to be happening very fast now.
I had a new glitch yesterday when my Ambient color selection changed.
I hope they stop all of the resets as the ignition cycles. My Lane Keep has remained as set since the coding change, now would like the same with Driving Mode & Lower on Entry. Auto-off might be the exception since it might change the EPA number but the others make little sense although I can rationalize a reason.

I've had my 450 for a little more than a month and put almost a thousand miles on her and I couldn't be happier with it. Best car I've ever owned by a mile (I loved my 2005 Mustang and 2012 C-Class, but neither hold a candle to this beast). She's fun to drive, pretty to look at and offers a quiet, comfortable ride. The bells and whistles only enhance the experience.

I wondered if I would regret not waiting for my June order, which will have the AMG interior, but considering it hasn't even gone into production yet, I wouldn't trade the last month of enjoyment for it.

The AMG pedals can be easily retrofitted from dealer parts.

That's what I figured, though I'd love to see some other options that look more luxurious than the basic pedals, but not as sporty as the AMG (the sporty pedals look awesome with the black interior, but I'm not sure they will look all that great with the beige interior). That steering wheel, though. Man, I love that AMG steering wheel.

I'm ecstatic with my current setup, though, and I feel fortunate not to have run into any of the gremlins that have plagued others.

I had the sport pedals added to mine - beige interior, pic attached
Note the brake pedal is simple, just a cap but accelerator is a complete unit - the entire "controller" is replaced.

Those look really good, actually! Thanks for sharing. Do you find a noticeable difference in the feel/quality of the cap vs real pedal?

The brake pedal "cap" is a replacement for the stock rubber part, not a clip over - it's as solid w/ a better feel than the original - they look and feel good - I really like the feel of the rubber studded surfaces underfoot.
Accelerator mechanical movement is exactly the same as the stock part.
No regrets at all.

Just curious - how much was the accelerator pedal assembly?

Noticed today that my 450 is now showing properly on the mbusa website when I am logged in, no longer a car with a cover

Can't find the invoice but I think the set was around $240 cad which would be in line with what turko quoted - part number on the box was 'A 00 290 05 00' (same)
