Cargo liner, matts?

Frankly, what we've used on my ML and this is a high quality black moving blanket which you can fold in different configurations for the rear area, whole rear, or flip down over the bumper. Looks good, protects well and is inexpensive. We hauled a ton of stuff in our '12 over almost 7 years and the rear was perfect when we sold it. I hauled four wheel/tires today.

The cargo liner is hard slick plastic and the sides are tall, about 8”. You lose space because of the sides-the rear seat slants back so there is a large gap in back. The sides have a little of the same just not as bad. Weather Tech has mats now but still don’t have a custom cargo mat. They have one you can trim. They said they were working on a cargo mat but nothing yet, More inquiries to show a demand might help.

Thanks Greg, I’ll have to. Check it out. I heard that the Cargo area is about the same as from the prior Gen. That’s all I want is a low rubber mat but the high wall might come in handy for a nasty load like steer manure for the garden.

Yes I have a trailer but for a bag or two in the spring I might throw them in the back and open all the windows. If it’s dry it isn’t bad but spring rains bring out the smell so that would be a no no. My cars are non smoking and I’m careful what I put in the that might leave an odor.Your question is valid though! I know a true story from many years ago where a customer from a Native American tribe in Toppenish WA financed a new Ford car on a full recourse contract with a bank. He had bought and paid for several used cars so had a track record. He hauled Salmon in the trunk and back seat. After a year or two the car was Repo’d and had to be sold for Salvage.

. By the way, the part number for the stowage crate is a newer part number. The dealer suggested that it is probably the same thing from a different vendor.
