UPDATE: I just had the dealership work on the side mirror wind chirping noise (for the 3rd time), and this time it seems to have made a large improvement! I can still hear something very faint, but nothing remotely close to the "almost-ready-to-boil tea kettle" noise that I've been dealing with, up until now.
I hope this can help the rest of you suffering with the same issue. Here's the part # and technician notes:
CUSTOMER STATES WIND WHISTLE STILL NOT FIXED. TAPE ACROSS THE TOP OF THE MIRROR GAP FIXES THE NOISE. CHECK AND ADVISE.
WARRANTY - 883321 LENS FOR LEFT DOOR/FENDER MIRROR REPLACE
WARRANTY - 883424 HOUSING FOR LEFT DOOR/FENDER MIRROR REPLACE
Part: 167-811-05-00 COVER TRIM
REMOVED LEFT MIRROR GLASS, REPLACED LEFT MIRROR HOUSING CAUSING WHISTLE NOISE.

After a couple of attempts I was finally able to convince the dealer in my area (Vancouver) that the noise is coming from the driver side mirror. At first they replaced the seals around the drivers doors but of course that wasn’t causing the issue. I taped around the mirror and the noise disappeared. Took the car in for them to replace the trim seals around the drivers door that they had ordered and told the Forman about the tape being on. Long story short they replaced the whole mirror hosing and the mirror/painted to match not the best job painting but I can live with it. Now the noise is 80%-90% gone and I can drive as fast as I want without the whistling noise. Took 3 tries at two different dealership. One of them refused to do anything about it and just brushed it off.

Has anyone experiencing this annoying sound visited their MB dealership VERY recently? Somewhere on this site someone posted a message that MB now has a service bulletin regarding this issue. Personally, I am holding off bringing in my GLE until a legitimate, proven fix is provided to all MB service departments. Using these home remedies that may or may not resolve the issue is not satisfactory, and I do wholeheartedly agree with GLE owners who feel that this is unacceptable in any vehicle especially such an expensive one. I am understanding that these issues arise, it is not a safety issue, and eventually it will get resolved. I am quite certain that MB have people monitor these websites to get current information on problems which are plaguing current owners, I would hope that they will get it corrected real soon, any very recent update would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
