Hi
I take delivery of GLE 350 de in a week or 2. It arrived to Bremerhaven from Brunswick 14 days a go and should be her I Norway soon. The dealer had a demo car in desember 2019 and I have tried it several times. Its a smooth ride with 320 hp and 700 nm, just the same as 400d, but you don't get the V6 sound. But for me its attractive to do almost 100 km WLTP electric. With my kind of driving I will only visit the pumps a few times pr year.
Norway is a strange country in several ways you might say, just as the car marked. Over 50 % of the sales the last year has been full electric cars and approx 25 % has been plug in hybrids. The plug in is best for me as I live in the northern part of Norway and its far between the charging points - yet. Its a good feeling, both for the environment and the ears. The 350 de is quiet, cheep to use and powerful on demand.
In Norway the 350 de is about 10000 euros cheeper than the 300d or 350, thus the car is approx 25000 euros more expensive in it self. Norway has almost no taxes on plugs with long electric range and full electric cars. So for me its a no-brainer!

Thank you for that answer. You should be the first to be delivered to Europe.
You will be able to inform us about the qualities and possibly the defaults encountered on this innovative model.
I am waiting for the end of confinement in France to order mine. The construction slot was initially planned for July, but it is already postponed to October because the MBUS factory is currently shutdown.

I belive Norways remarkable marked is the reason that we har first-in-line for the plug in. The 166 GLE 500e sold also a bunch here, besides the XC 90 T8, X540e and so on, and again due to the incentives from the state. In Norway these 1 gen plug ins (500e, T8, 40e) has been and are sold and advertised with a environmental touch. I thing in other parts of the world these the ads are more focused on power (?) But the all lack electric range, but the 2. gen new 350 de beats them all by far!
I'm looking forward to receive mine!

Hi
The dealer tells me that delivery for new orders now is 2021 on the plug in. Mine is stuck somewhere in Scandinavia due to cornoa and that theyhave temporarily laid off staff at the railway. The usual way of transporting cars to nothern Norway is by train through Sweden. But it should be here in week or so. I have a demo this weekend as a I have to transport my boat on a trailer. Its funny, you can track a cable or some other small items all around the world but a car is obvioulsy difficult
Go figure!

Mercedes-Benz Australia makes available a few different models: A250e, C300e, E300e, GLC300e, but not yet in the GLE or in diesel PHEV.
I would like a car where i could drive up to 100km in electric (the GLE350de fits that) to do commuting etc, and diesel for longer journeys across Australia (it's a big country, and people generally drive big distances), so i'll be living vicariously through any posts you make once delivery is received post C-19. I would like either the GLE350de or even if they ever make it available E350de coupe (that would be my preferred, if it came in 4MATIC).
D., in France, is there incentives like Norway? In Australia for any car we have GST 10%, then we have Stamp Duty 5%, and Luxury Car Tax 33% above a threshold, and then another state luxury tax x% above a threshold, and would be good to understand the types of incentives that you might have there.

In France, no specific incentive yet but that could change in september post covid19. 20% TVA and a specific tax depending on CO2 rate (20000€ for a GLe 43 AMG). GLE350de PHEV will be free of that tax.

This weekend I picked up the boat. I drove 65 km to the storage and when I arrived there it was still 25 km electric range left. Its a pretty bad road "over a mountain" as well. You se the pictures...When I started from home the range was 65 km, so its a bit conservative. Maybe its due to that its a demo and the previous customers driving. I don't know. Anyway I hook on the 2000 kg (2 tons) trailer and went home. When you set the destination on the NAV the car portion out the rest off the electricity and when I pulled upon home it was 1%. The el motor alone has no problem pulling the car an trailer, and up pretty step hills to. THATS impressive. But the consumption is in the roof tough. 65 km home was 7,8 l/100km + 10 kWh/100 km.

I also, like you, had a ML250 from 2013 (my 2014), and that used to do 7.4L/100 - so it’s very similar under petrol consumption, or have i mis understood?
Thank you for your post

Thats correct, on the 65 km trip out to pick up the boat there where no diesel consumption. When I hooked on the trailer with the boat and went back home it was 7,8 l/100 km + 10 kWh/100 km. On the 250 bluetec the consumption used to be 10-11l/100 km on the same stretch. I have travelled approx 5000 km the last 3-4 years with the boat trailer hooked on the ML 250 and the consumption was typically twice as much as normal with the trailer. 6,5 l/100 km without trailer and 11-12 l/100 km with.
I guess that the 350 de will be around the same, maybe 6 l/100 km or so, when the electricity has run out. Its approx 450 kg heavier that the 300d (or the ML 250)

I do love the electricity component though.
I was reading this morning that the 'de' has 140L less luggage space. I was thinking that's not really much - do you think the cargo area is still a good size?
Thanks

I agree, the ML 250 was a bit weak on overtaking and so on with its 204 hp and 500 nm torque. 350 de with 320/700 in system power is far stronger and does til 0-100 sprint (0-60 mph) in 6.8 sec. The only difference in cargo space is that the room under the floor has disappeared so you cant have a spare tire or so. The rest is the same. Disadvantage if you drive long trips in Australia I belive....
I have to say, and maybe I ll offend someone her but buying a new car in 2020 without some sort of new and green technology..... Not for me.

I just ordered my 350 from Amg Line. long wait in perspective: manufacturing scheduled for October 11 and delivery in France in December ... perhaps.
In the meantime, we are awaiting any information from the first deliveries of 350de.

Hello LME,
Did the delivery finally take place?
What are the first impressions in the different modes of electric, mixed, diesel driving?
Isn't diesel mode too noisy?

Yes! Earlier this week the car was handed over to me. Everything was as espected, except for dirty rims. The took care of it and I drove of with a smile on my face. The diesel do not have the best sound but its quiet in the form that it shut down when untill you set off and when you stop (with emtpy battery) When you have a good SOC it drives like a electric car and the diesel kikcks only in if you need much power. 80-90 km electric range depending temperatur and other variables. A very smooth ride and the HUD is fantastic.

It's very sporty and nice
I like the Designo White Diamond outside but my wife doesn't like it at all.
But what about the goodies ?
You said that you have test drive various models prior to take your decision, did you and Avant-Garde one with the confort massage seats (multi contours) ?
Did you had one with the basic leatherette (simili-cuir) and another one with the "regular leather" ?
Do you have any feedback regarding those options ?
For me it's a pity that we can get in France the optional electric blinds for the rear seats.

Hello,
The manufacturing slot of my GLE 350de was brought forward to the beginning of September without being able to do better because options were unavailable in the August slots. This will give us time to collect your impressions for deliveries in Belgium and Norway.
