I’m looking for some help regarding the acoustic glass that comes as part of the acoustic comfort package.

The package isn’t available in the U.K. but I’m looking to install the acoustic glass as I did the same on my GLC last year.

On the GLC, the acoustic glass was only for the windscreen and front side windows.

Can anyone that has the package tell me if it’s just the front windows or the back ones too on the GLE (won’t be changing the windscreen).

Also, if anyone has the part numbers for the glass that would be a big help!

When I called the parts department last year for the GLC, it took me ages to find out because the guy on parts had not even heard of acoustic glass...

I have a UK 450 and it is super quiet, much quieter than my GLC43 which had acoustic glass, would have imagined it would cost a lot of money to change, imagine all the seals would have to be changed as well as the glass.

 

I have no real issues with the cabin noise, but the acoustic glass did make a slight difference on my GLC and only cost £160 for both front windows - fitted them myself and there was no need to change any seals.

If it turns out to be rather expensive and seals need to be changed I probably won’t bother.

I don’t mind a little project so if it’s just a case of swapping the glass I’ll give it a go

 

I got my GLE a week ago and it has the acoustic package fitted to it ... the front and rear side windows are both fitted with acoustic glass.

It’s a shame the package isn’t available in the U.K.

Now to see if I can order them from the dealer.

 

interesting as I am currently number 74 on a waiting list as have a busted windshield appears no windshields in USA for 2020’s

That's worrying, and I presume the "Acoustic Windshield" is quite a pricey one too?

I suppose supply will start to free-up once we're able to put some of the COVID issues behind us.

 

My sedan has acoustics but the GLE doesn’t. Not sure of pricing but a Colorado dealer was $1,800 for windshield installed and wouldn’t work with insurance carriers. I drove it back East as a friend owns glass company that actually installs the Mercedes and BMW dealer’s glass around here. Cost $500
