I wish I had one (GLE 450) on order, but dealer can't place order due to current unavailability of desired Airmatic Package option. Could be a variety of reasons, but no clue from MB about why or when - so will be patient and wait. May end up with a 2022.

So Airmatic is a do or die for you? I didn't even consider it when I bought my 2020 GLE450..

Any idea on when Mercedes usually release the new year model ? Is it usually around May or later in the year (Oct etc). IIRC the 2020’s were released way early in 2019.

Looks like “summer 2021”

I will be towing a travel trailer quite a bit, and based on my research and experience with my ML350 (with no such feature) I look forward to the Airmatic helping keep the trailer and vehicle level, even with a weight distribution hitch. It's not a 'must have' but given what I will be paying for probably the last new car in my lifetime and the perceived benefit of this option to me, I'm in no hurry.

For towing, you might be better off without a self-leveling feature.
Self-leveling often gives a false sense that you have set up your WDH correctly, masking the poor setup.
The goal is proper weight transfer to the front and trailer axles, not "level."

I understand and intend to dial in my WDH (Blue OX) from the start.

If the MSRP was 93570 and you managed to get that as the out the door price, how is that a 9.3% discount?

I would assume that includes TTL, sales tax, dealer processing fees, etc.; which totaled to ~ $8700. Those costs are added to the sales price for the out the door price. So the sale price must have been ~$85,000, or a 9.3% discount off MSRP.

Gotcha, I thought of that after I posted.

Thanks for the explanation. Should’ve explained more explicitly.

Anticipation!

On the verge of ordering a '21 450 - although some of the posts on this site have been a bit terrifying! Such is the way on automotive web forums it seems.

Originally wanted Selenite Grey with the 21" twin-spoke wheels but was disappointed that you can't get them with the Sport Package - and the standard front end and unpainted wheel arches and rockers just didn't grow on me.

Proposed spec is:
Iridium silver with Macchiato Beige leather and Brown Open Pore trim
Sport, 21" AMG wheels, Premium, Comfort, Technology, Intelligent Drive, power sunshades, AIRMATIC, soft close doors, acoustic comfort and wood/leather steering wheel.

Despite asking directly, the sales person has indicated there shouldn't be a problem with the availability of any of the options. Am I correct that any feature availability constraints will be flagged upon actual submission of the order to the manufacturer? I will need to protect myself (my deposit) against the factory unilaterally deciding what options to equip my custom order with! We have small dealerships in my part of the world who typically don't keep $100K models on their lot as they can take a long time to sell. If I wanted the four cylinder version with vinyl seats I wouldn't have a problem.

So much talk of quality issues is concerning - I am leaving Lincoln after many faithful years to the brand. My current vehicle, a fully loaded 2020 Aviator, has many minor (but very annoying) fit and finish, and electrical issues. I can't wait to hand the keys back and move on!!

The timing of delivery of the GLE is not a concern as I waited six months plus three days for the Aviator. It was built, then sat for three months before it was sent for a 'quality' inspection. Whoever did that part didn't do a very good job!!

@Professor1234 you are going to hear a lot of the bad on forums so take it with a grain of salt because MB keeps selling them. As for the car getting different options, that is not usually the case. If certain options are not available “usually” the car will just wait for those parts or not let you order it. Just get a print out of the build that the dealer has submitted (P/O) and make sure to look it over. Cars have been going from green straight to red these days and after that you cannot change anything.
Good luck.

I 'tried' to order a GL450 with AIRMATIC option several weeks ago and order was rejected because that option was "not currently available". Dealer has been trying every few days since to re-submit order but still getting rejected. I don't know it this is the case for other/all options.

So your assumption is correct that you will find out when submitting an order. As I recall, it didn't get flagged when putting the order together, just after hitting the SUBMIT button, and if rejected, you technically haven't ordered the vehicle. You have to do it all over again.

ordered mine 2 weeks ago. brilliant blue with macchiato beige leather. just about every option except massage seats which they said was out of allocation whatever that means, and the e-active suspension. to be built in the 3rd decade of april. could have waited 3 months according to the dealer to get massage seats but they aren't that important to me.salesguy even said the dash cam is ordered even though I didnt think of that until today after seeing a review of a 53 that had it. supposedly early may delivery. we will see. its a 450.

I pursued the matter with the dealership and they confirmed that the multi-contour seats are no longer available, but all of my other choices (my spec was nearly fully loaded as well) are currently available which means AIRMATIC is too.

I am a bit torn about moving forward with a vehicle not quite to my spec, but I’ve had multi contour seats with massage in my last four Lincolns and I maybe used the massage twice in nearly ten years. I’m a fairly big/tall guy so mostly everything is fully deflated anyway. Might miss the extending thigh cushion though.

Does anyone know if the headrest is powered in the standard leather seats?

Seems there’s a modified Comfort Package without the multi contour seats and massage. Saved some money on a feature I doubt I’d ever used. The thing extender and power headrest are part of the standard seat setup.

Another question: does the Acoustic Comfort Package in any way change the look of the window tinting?

Nope. All I’ve ever noticed is a very slight “mirror tint“ look to the front and only at a certain angle in the sun light. And I honestly would not notice it at all if there where not small areas of that film cut out in the windshield. You shouldn’t ever notice it.

From the looks of my Multi Contour, (and two other AMG models) it looks like they can’t get a good quality build on them.

I can’t see any difference with the Acoustic pkg but haven’t had two side by side. It was dropped from my GLE 450 & I have it on my 53. My guess is that they would look slightly different in full sun since the AC windshield reflects more rays.

^ Thanks you two! Just waiting on the final confirmation from Corporate via the dealership that everything else (and specifically AIRMATIC) will be available on their current allocation. I’m working with a small dealership but they’ve been great so far!

Finally the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to show. My new eta is 2/12-16. Hopefully it won’t be delayed again or I may have to cut my losses and explore other options.

When I was in the dealership yesterday, the SM said he couldn’t order anything right now with multi contour seats or distronic. Glad I didn’t want the seats but got my can’t-live-without-distronic.
Good luck to the others!
