Just got another update from my dealer. They said my 63S is unlikely to ship before the middle of the month. Awaiting parts.
They also informed me that the vehicle is being built without a trailer hitch due to a parts shortage. Almost feel like I'm getting taken for a ride at this point.

2021 GLE 350 Espresso Leather Not Available
I was wondering what is going on with the availability of espresso leather in the 2021 GLE 350 models? The dealer says it's not available to select and when I contacted mbusa they said it was delayed with no available date. Has anybody else had this issue or knows more info on this?

My rep today says my GLE350 now shows October 1. Still isn't actually sending me Netstar print out but he says he checks his orders daily. Doesn't anticipate any more delays. Still building '20's and he is still awaiting shipment of some MY20's. No VIN and no pricing yet. I still would have thought that Netstar would show a decade/month rather than a date. At any rate, should hopefully have the car within 5-6 weeks.

I just got an update from my dealer for by 2021 GLE 53 order.
"There has been no change to your vehicle status and it is currently at the VPC in Alabama. It is more than likely waiting to get loaded on to a railcar with other vehicle to make its way to the Portland VPC. Have a great weekend and stay safe!"
If they don't have an update by end of next week, I will have my dealer call up VPC and try to get a more accurate status.

I'm happy you were given such a detailed update. Thank you for sharing. I can't even begin to imagine the logistical nightmare that's associated with this issue. It's one thing to have a backlog of stock that's missing trim pieces, etc. It's another to have one that is missing powertrain parts and renders these cars unable to operate under their own power.
I wonder if this will also affect the AMG models, since their powertrains are, from my understanding, shipped as complete units from Germany.

Though I may be mistaken, I was under the impression that the 63s still had their engines built in Affalterbach and shipped to Vance where the rest of the vehicle was manufactured. I assumed the ignition coils would be part of that package.

I was under the impression that cars are assembled in Vance but components can come from anywhere. I doubt the power train for the GLE53 is built in the US. That is a low volume power train and is probably built in Europe.

Just another question. Since it seems parichey as an AMG GLE53 on order, would all GLE's share that common part or would there potentially be different ignition coils for different engines? A question for either someone with access to the service manuals or who knows the engines.

Sorry, I scanned your post and missed the point you made when I was interrupted and posted later. Crate engines don’t normally include electrical components, turbo, etc but who knows. I would think that the coils would be shipped in bulk from the manufacturer directly to the factory.

Originally 3d August. Then mb pushed up start of my21 until Sept. date I was given was Sept 25, which probably just was the midpoint of 3d sept. Yesterday it showed oct 1 but today status changed to b0 with Sept 29 build. My rep thinks the Oct 1 date was completion date.
So after bump from aug to sept, stayed pretty close to 3rd decade time frame.
Now all they need is parts. I am still not going to believe it until i have word it’s on a train from Vance to I guess Baltimore.

Our 2021 GLE63S has been built and shipped and just arrived by rail in our Province (Alberta). We should have it within 10 days. It’s a full load. Diamond white with Macchiato beige leather and open pore wood. Blackout package and black wheels. They did not tell us a price yet, but they don’t have any say over price anyways. I bought diamond car mats for it. Will wrap it and ceramic the wheels and mats. Probably will install winters right away.

2021 GLE350 config is live on mbusa. Looks like it’s getting the plastic buttons surrounding the touchpad, just like the 2021 A/CLA/GLA/GLB. Doesn’t look nearly as nice, although will stand up to fingers better.
Very exciting to see the Tech package features made as standalone options, although the fact that the high end audio is no longer available largely negates the benefit. I’m mostly happy to see that the drivers assistance no longer requires the massage seats.

2021 GLE 350 Espresso Leather Not Available
Does anyone know why espresso leather is not available in the 2021 GLEs? My dealer told me it is available in the mb tex so I don't know why that color would not be available and leather as well.
