Airmatic now lowers at 140kmph 87mph

Posted on GLS section but basically the same appllies for GLE. My GLS580 lowers at 140kmph which seems very high for North America. My ML Airmatic lowered at 100kmph and so do most other models. Why is this newer one so high now and can it be changed other than manually setting in "Sport mode". ?

Yes, that is what is stated in the GLE manual. AFAIK, there is no override, other than going into Sport mode. 100 kph would be more reasonable.

On the positive side, you now have an excuse when you get pulled over -- was checking the functionality of the airmatic suspension!

Do markets outside North America lower at 140kmph?

I was driving on the highway the other day at 100km/h. I decided to play around with the HUD. I switched to the ride height indicator, and it showed me at -1.
I didn't need to be at 140km/h to be at -1.

Yes but I think you were in "Sport" the lowering will work in all modes over 140km. In "Sport". if you select it, stays in -1 at all speeds.

I was in either Eco or Comfort. I rarely use Sport.

If you can tell me how to get height to change to -1 in Eco or Comfort I would appreciate that or did it happen automatically? The GLE manual states the same as the GLS manual automatic lowering over 140km.

I think in Eco and Comfort mode, the car will automatically lowered when you drive past certain speed (unknown, since it seems to be lower than what the manual stated).
I don't believe you can manually lower the car to -1 or -2 in those mode when stopped. At least its not working for me.
If you use Sport or Sport+ mode, it should start lowering the car right away.

Mine has not lowered at all (excluding sport mode). I have not hit 140kmph too often and did not notice but regularly checked 100- 120kmph and height unchanged.

Can this be confirmed? I tried to lower a loaner GLE in sport, but didn't see a chance. Would love to lower it in sport (Or I* with all other settings to comfort). Thinks lowered looks good while parked.

If it has Airmatic it lowers in sport. You can physically measure before and after or if you watch the hood "horizon" while stationary you can see it change. There is also a screen that shows the height you are in, Sport is -1. The screen is in vehicle details and you have to hit the expand screen to get the height readings,

Here’s what Mercedes says about the GLE 53....I think it’s the same that I experienced in my 2020 GLE 450.

“The vehicle level is generally lowered by 15 mm in the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs Sport and Sport+. In the Comfort drive program, the vehicle is lowered by 15 mm from a speed of 75 mph.”
