What tires are you getting from factory? Michelin Primacy A/S or Bridgestone? Also for those who are on run flats particularly with 3 row folks.

Bridgestone 255/50/R19 Extended Mobility (Run-flat) HATE them! Makes the car ride like a Jeep!! I do not have the third row seat and the car does have a compact spare.

I was simply lucky to get the Michelins. I thought I had runflats but they are not.

I have a GLE350 4-Matic with 3004 miles on it with the 20 inch 10-spoke wheels. It has the standard coil spring suspension, and I think it rides fine. I have a 2014 Infiniti QX 60 hybrid with 20 inch Michelin‘s and the ride is similar. The GLE is firmer than my Infiniti but it is not harsh. I would describe it as more sporty, and it takes the corners with less lean. As far as road noise, my GLE with the Bridgestones is slightly quieter than my Infiniti at speed, but neither is loud—it’s like comparing two libraries. I haven’t driven my GLE without the RFTs, so I’m sure non-RFT will be less stiff in the sidewalls and would provide a more isolated ride from the road ride. That said, I’m happy with what I have.

So is it a fair assumption that the 2-row models have standard tires and the 3-row models have run-flats? I did not like the run flats in my GLC300 which is being returned on lease when the GLE350 arrives. Was hoping the 2-row GLE did not have run flats

I believe 3 rows have run flats and units with the 21 inch option have the Tirefit repair kit, but not sure if those have runflats.

I am pretty happy with the ride and dry handling so far on the Bridgestones - not sure about wet handling, I have only had the vehicle for a week - working from home and it's been crazy, so I haven't driven it much.

That is normally the case, the 3rd row takes up the space where the spare tire would go -- thus you get RFTs. That said, some folks without the 3rd row got a spare and RFTs...probably based on a box that was inadvertently or deliberately checked on the build sheet. I know on my window sticker, RFT are listed as a no charge option. Recommend you test drive a 2020 GLE with the RFTs and judge for yourself, personally I don't have any issues with them.

Not all 3-rows have extended mobility (a/k/a run flats) tires. Some have a can of the MB version of fix-a-flat. A car without run flats and a can of air was a deal breaker for me. The salesperson insisted that it had to have run flats so I called the manufacturer and the tires were all season non run flats. So be sure to double check!

Monwen, I believe the units with the 21 inch wheel option and third row seat option fall into that category -- you will see Tirefit on the build sheet for it.

Yes. You are correct; so any car with the AMG exterior usually has 21” wheels and Tirefit. That is a scary proposition to me.

According to my build sheet, my car has a space saver. The car is a 53 with 21’´ wheels, no third row

To be clear, all 2-row cars should have a spare wheel/tire; though curiously some have also been built with extended mobility tires, but that is not standard spec.

Most likely a certain number of run flat tires were ordered in anticipation of the third row option being more popular. When the supply exceeded the demand, they started putting the run flats on two row cars to use them up.

Secured my spot yesterday for my GLE450.
Before I sign my paperwork tomorrow I am going to request standard tires.
i will say I did test drive a GLE450 with 21’s and EM tires with Airmatic and didn’t find the ride to be harsh at all and the roads here around Boston aren’t in the best condition.
