this is great advice - I had “lease acquisition fee” on my write up, is that something I can negotiate removing? I’ve never leased before...

Mine was built on Oct 31st, shows "Ready" in Nexstar. But, am told Vance having issues with trucking companies. Have had a couple Vance builds delivered within a week of "Ready" status.
Anyone else in same boat?

For a few weeks, Vance was sending to Maine via trucks instead of train/trucks. It took three weeks by truck or 4-6 weeks by train/truck. Now Vance switched back to train/trucks for Maine shipments. Dealer doesn't know why but isn't pleased.

My car was completed October 1 and left Vance by train on Oct 8. Arrived in NY Oct 19. Again, dealer was told truck but it switched to train/truck. Truck is faster but harder to procure sufficient trucks. Trains carry more cars but slower since the railroads prioritize higher revenue traffic. In short, Mercedes is scrambling to do the best they can do under the circumstances. And they are really not terribly communicative to the dealers which makes a bad situation worse.

Shipping delays are an unnecessary expense to Mercedes first but also to all involved. If they don’t have a steady & timely production then they can’t schedule on a reliable basis. There are thousands of truck driver openings. A trucking company can’t afford downtime so Mercedes might have trouble with relationships if they cause delays to the carriers. My car will ship by rail to Salt Lake and then by truck the last 350 miles. They are estimating 5 weeks for delivery on what is a 3-4 day trip by truck from the factory.

My GLE was shipped by vessel from Brunswick port. Took 2 months, I followed the live tracking. Once it arrived in Victoria BC took another week to the dealer. I do not know the logic behind this used to go on train and will only took less than a month.

I dropped by the Dealership this afternoon to check ETA on my GLE 53. At over 3 weeks since build there has been no change from ready to ship. My SA showed me info on a GLE 450 they received on 11-23 with a notice that it was released to the carrier on 11-25 two days after they already had it delivered. So I am still left wondering. SA said the timelines have been lagging actual on other cars.

The serial number on my new GLE is almost 300,000 higher than on my 2020 GLE 450 built 17 months earlier. That’s about 17,000 vehicles a month even with the COVID shutdown/delays...if they are still sequential in the serial numbering. My point is that there must be excess demand because the prior Gen. was selling at an average of less than 10,000 a month-if my memory is correct. If my assumptions are correct it would explain a lot about our long wait times. It must be people in the US spending that $1200 stimulus check to buy a Mercedes 🤥

I hope the rest of you are having better luck than I am. As of today my GLE 53 has been sitting at the VPC for over a month. I have a feeling that the Red/Black seats are to blame. My wife liked the other two tone better...should have listened to her but she says I never do!

Just today the status changed to “released to carrier” on 12-3. If that is accurate...big if...it might be more like a Christmas present for my late June order.

Finally, hoping for the best! My SA just updated saying our 53 on order is now pushed back a month from mid-Jan to mid-Feb or even early March delivery. Guess the Easter bunny will be bringing ours

I ordered my 53 AMG SUV in early June 2020 and just got word my build is middle of March 2021. Getting close to a one-year order and I was first in line at the Tucson dealership.

Did the dealer have an allocation in June, or if not, when did they get it?

The dealer did not have an allocation for my build until last week, according to the dealer.

That's what you have to be careful of - some dealers will take your "order" and not tell you they don't have an allocation. It's not really an order until they do and MBUSA accepts it. Hopefully they were upfront with you back in June.

Taking so long to get an allocation isn't normal. The Dealer must have a problem with Mercedes. I've heard that if they cancel stock orders or play games with sold they go to the back of the line.

My dealer got me a November allocation from another dealer in August. He said it would be a December delivery, is was built last week. I would be pissed to no end if a dealer took my order without a allocation. This is for a 580. He did tell me they have delays in 53's, said anything scheduled after 12-15 was being pushed to February.

In two consecutive orders from the same dealer, he showed me the allocation on Netstar that he was going to snag for my order and input the order as I watched. Had a PO within a couple of days. In one case (trying to order the GLC350e, which I am now ghlad didn't happen), he told me up front he had no allocation. And when it became apparent he had no idea when he would get one, said it was time to move on. Likewise I sent a friend in another state to a dealer to order a GLB. Same case-- showed him the allocation on Netstar and input while he watched. Somehow I expect a different level of customer service from high end dealerships, but alas doesn't always happen. I would certainly shop other dealers who might be more forthcoming. But the vehicles are scarce and that might be the best time frame you're going to get.

GLE 53
I placed an order for a GLE 53 back in Sept... I was given a build date of 11/27... sent the dealer an email a couple days after asking for an update. They sent me the Netstar Status screenshot which showed a production date of 11/30 and a status of F1-Wholesaled. I'm not really sure what that status means but I assume that the vehicle has been built. I asked for another update today and there has been no status change since the week prior. I thought vehicles usually ship out a couple days after?? When should I expect the vehicle to be delivered to the dealer? Anyone have a similar situation to this?

2021 GLE 450
We had a confirmed order on August 20 with a second decade of November build date. It was built on November 19 and went to the VPC. Still waiting for it to be released for shipping. No idea how long it will take. We also (based on what the dealer said) thought it would ship from the VPC fairly quickly, but that didn't happen. I guess they are backed up.

Interesting story about the order. A M-B salesman advertises in the local weekly paper (still exists in our little town) that he lives in town, which is about 45 minutes away from the dealership. We wanted a GLE 450 because my brother loves his and we needed to replace a Lexus GX 460 that we took to leave at our summer house. Problem was, there weren't many around. So I called him and he offered us one or two that didn't meet our desires for options and color. We hadn't actually driven one at this point, and didn't have the ability for logistics reasons to get to a dealership. Soon after, he called and told us he had spoken with the person who allocates vehicles for our region and he could offer us either a 350 or 450 built to our exact specs (after M-B released the 2021 option configurations). That was really fantastic. We chose the 450 and put the order together. We did manage to drive a 350 but haven't gotten to drive the 450 yet. Even though we were kind of desperate (Plan B was to buy an X5), they are giving $2,500 off MSRP.

Good news, Rafik! F1 means the dealer is invoiced, as it says. So. the clock is ticking on their financial arrangements with MB so they really want to get you that car so they can pay for it within whatever grace period before the interest starts piling up. The issue is transportation. You're not indicating your location but if close to Vance it will go on a truck-- otherwise it goes by train and from there by truck. As an example, my car took 8 days from Vance to NJ and then another 3 days to the dealer about 40 miles from the railhead. It sat for a week awaiting assignment to a train. Others have reported that their cars came in and several days later Netstar showed a shipping date. So it will be very soon.
