I posted on another thread that my Dealer didn’t show sold orders as inventory. Well my car showed up as inventory this week so that has changed since my 450 order last year. It still isn’t here so it’s kind of false advertising both ways. No update on shipping so hope it’s here soon...it’s been about 6 weeks since the build was completed.
Received a message from my SA that my fully loaded GLE 53 is on the railway. Tomorrow I'll be going dealership to finalize the deal. Hopefully we can come to a fair compromise on final price.
ordered mine this week delivery should be March. I have noticed on several Youtube reviews of my exact car red brake calipers on the car. On my options the only option was silver calipers which is what is on my 2017 GLE AMG coup?? Are red calipers available on the 2021 seems odd

Red calipers are only on the $5,000 option for suspension or buy a 63AMG as I recall.
My sales guy called me yesterday and said I got a PO# number now. Build is set for first week in March, hopefully delivering end of March/first week in April latest.
SA told me Saturday that Mercedes has a push on to get delayed sold orders out this week. They are trucking as many as they can direct to the Dealer vs train then truck. My GLE is expected Wednesday the 23rd. Maybe there really is a 🎅 Santa....

They are getting several others including a 63S & 450. I assume they will fill out any extra capacity on the truck with unsold. They normally go by train to Salt Lake & then truck to Boise so we are the last shipping point North for that hub. Apparently they can save up to a week since there are more delays with the train. To be honest, this is probably all about getting sales numbers up before year end.
And you care less about their sales stats than getting your car! There were at least 100 full car carriers sidelined on the CSX tracks near me from Friday until Sunday night. An example of why train is slower.
Drove between Boise and Salt Lake last year on our x-country drive. Gorgeous. SLC too squeaky clean for us New Yorkers. Absolutely love Boise though. May be end of line for MB transport but not end of line for quality of city!

Don't remember whether it was on this board or not, but there was some discussion of the future of just-in-time inventory management in the light of what pandemic-caused supply chain disruptions have created. When everything is stable, it is an efficient and cost-effective strategy. It obviously started going sour for MB with the 2020 GLE introductions where parts shortages crippled deliveries. Lots of rethinking will be happening in days ahead.

The Just-In-Time (JIT) strategy has been challenged a lot in the past couple of decades. YK2, the Financial Crisis of '07, increasing hurricane activity, Corporate acquisitions/mergers, Chinese manufacturing, and other trends are showing just how vulnerable that strategy can be.
Many companies are again Vertically Integrating (buying their suppliers and raw material sources) to avoid increasing supply-chain interruptions. JIT uses Horizontal Integration, which saves money, but with the trade-offs we are seeing now.
Mercedes has a triple whammy in this strategy - competitors acquiring their suppliers and shutting off supply, a very popular product that exceeded the JIT ordering algorithms, and the Pandemic. The JIT strategy is like an octopus, with myriads of tenticles, and sometimes years to anticipate the end product need. First you have to mine the material......
My GLE 53 arrived today included in 2 truckloads my Dealer received. There must have been some weather because several cars were covered with mud to the point that the color was not recognizable. Mine must have been up and forward because it was fairly clean. I’m almost positive that my 20” winter set will fit. There looks to be about 1 1/2” clearance to the rim and spoke clearance will be more with lower offsets like my et 45s. Here’s a pic and one of the large AMG Red Brakes.
