Hello, just joined because our 2021 GLE 450 is on the way and arriving soon. It will be my wife's daily driver. She plays a lot of tennis and wears sunscreen. The combination of sweat and sunscreen pretty much wrecked the leather seats in her previous vehicle, so we ordered this one with MB Tex. Is there any need to get seat covers (for example from Wet Okole) or would that be overkill?

 

MBTex is pretty bulletproof. I would think regular cleaning would suffice.

Thanks Greg and Lucky. I'm guessing sunscreen won't stain or discolor the MB Tex?

 

I'd go with the darker color - I had black MB Tex in my wagon, and you could not stain or damage it if you tried. The macchiato beige Tex may be more delicate due to the color.

 

I’ve had some dye transfer on my macchiato beige MB Tex seats from jeans but it cleaned up pretty easily with Lexol. A little soap and water works well too.

 

The boss drives a '14 ML350 with ventilated leather seats. She got this towel especially made for the sweat problems. I googled the brand Premium Terry Collection and this showed up with the MB logo no less.

MB-Tex is near bullet-proof and everything-proof. Having said that, my wife and daughter use Orange Mudder seat covers. Similar to the previous photo.

Thanks, these are great ideas. Much better than full seat covers, which we really don't need. Just something to use temporarily that is easy to take on and off.

 

My prior car was a 2016 Buick Enclave with light tan interior. During the summer it gets pretty hot here in the Peoples Republic of Pennsylvania too! To my surprise, the Mercedes with a black interior was actually cooler after a sunny day in the parking lot than the Buick! I don't know what MB does differently to the glass but it works very well.

 

Very true. I had to film our Audi to get it close to the standard GLE interior heat. A dark interior does not seem to be affected by the sun in the new Mercedes. With the Acoustic Comfort Pkg it should be even better.

 

That's interesting. We did get the acoustic comfort package, but the vehicle has been built, so we will have Macchiato Beige/Black interior.

 

And it will no doubt look stunning!
