If so, then you need to find another dealer.

I have raised this standby option before and have not heard of anyone who has this supported on their V167/X167. Does your model support this? Mine does not - X167 GLS580.

Honestly I don’t know if my vehicle has this or not. Just what the manual says.

I’ll check later and see if I can find it in settings (manuals often have all features listed it may be tied to a feature or option that some folks don’t have). I’m just surprised that a dealer would not know this though.

Cheers,

My 2020 does not have it though it is in my manual.

Just looked at mine. I do not have this either. Strange that it would be in the manual though. I still think dealer should know why/why not this is and not be stumped by it.

Mine also does not. Left the vehicle around the first of June on a charger. I tried to find standby and it's not there. Let's hope it's all good when we get back late October. Once in awhile the car will connect (it's in a garage under a lot of concrete), and it shows the starter battery as Charged.

Hi, can you update if the trickle charger was able to keep the 12V AND 48V batteries alive after the car kept idle for a few months?

I won't know until late October, when we return to that vehicle. I'll try to remember to update. The car is in a garage under a lot of steel and concrete, so it does not update regularly. However, three or so weeks ago it did update (they must have opened the door to do A/C maintenance), and the Starter Battery showed Charged at that point.

So I bought a 2021 GLS 450 in April. It has 5,000 miles on it. This week I tried to start it in the driveway and nothing. Mercedez roadside assistance couldnt jump it and they had to tow it to the dealer. The red battery light came on that said "stop vehicle and check owners manual. The app says the starter battery is critically low. The dealer said the issue is with the 48 volt battery and they have to order a new one, but no ETA on the battery after a few days still. EXTREMELY frustrating!

Sadly, I could have written that exact post for my 2021 All Terrain that I purchased in April. All you would have to do is substitute "200" for "5000". If you take the time to read the posts on this thread and another called "48 Volt Battery Problem", you'll find other posters with pretty much the same story. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but there is a new battery part number available now, and hopefully that will solve your problem.

Is there still an issue to get the replacement battery? What seems to be the lead time?

My dealership was able to get a replacement within just a few days on both occasions that my 48 volt battery died; however, both replacement batteries were the old part number. I don't know how long it's taking dealers to get replacements with the new part number.

48 volt battery crapped out on me last week. Towed the car to Helms Brothers in Bayside. Had it all taken care of within 3 days. Awesome service.
Now the EVAP system is trowing check engine light twice already. Wicked!

Sorry to hear. How did they resolve your issue? New battery or something less?

Thanks!
New Battery.

It was funny and sad at the same time...when I got to the dealer with the tow guy, the lot attendants pretty much said put it in the "Battery" section of the parking lot. LOL

I guess the good news is that the dealerships now seem to have replacement batteries on hand and are able turn around the repairs pretty quickly. Earlier in the year, a lot of posters complained that they had to wait a long time for their dealers to even locate replacements while the dealers tried different workarounds that didn't work.

Not sure if this helps but I have a 2020 GLE 450 (3/2019 prod date) and had to get the car towed in, not necessarily for battery issues but appears to have been for grounding issues. See photo of my work order. This happened a few months into ownership and so far so good (approx. 1 year & 10K miles later). Still love the car...

Our 48v battery was giving us problems (via dash message) on our 2020 580 but the car still ran. We took it into the dealer and got a replacement in about a week.

Had our '21 GLE580 towed to MB of Gilbert on a Sunday due to the same dreaded Stop Engine message and we're waiting for the SA to call with the diagnosis which I know now is the 48v battery. Thank you to everyone for sharing their own experiences and knowledge. Fingers crossed '21 E450 coupe (03/21 build) won't fall victim to the same issue.

Welcome to the club nobody wants to belong to. I sure hope you don't have to join twice. My E450 wagon was also a 03/21 build and I'm sorry to tell you that battery failed as well. Still, it doesn't mean they all will. Fingers crossed indeed.

I haven't been invited to your "club." Same build date as yours, March of '21, 10,000 miles.
Do you drive much or does it sit a lot, running the batteries down?

It almost seems like a new battery with a software update is the only cure for those built Sept/Oct 2020 to sometime in early 2021. If a software update could fix those batteries one would think that would have been done by now since the repair cost is significant. Mercedes has been silent to this point. I reported mine to the NHTSA hoping it might push Benz to get on this sooner than later.

Battery #1 died at 195 miles. Battery #2 died 535 miles later. Battery #3 is still going strong at a little over 3,000 miles. With that track record, I should be president of the dreaded club lol.

It gets driven almost every day 10-15 miles minimum.

I don't know what it actually costs to replace those batteries but my SA said "thousands". MB cannot be happy with that.

Thanks. I just went out and put the Battery Tender on the E450 just to see if the MercedesMe Connect app Starter Battery message "Partially Charged" (click service icon) would update to "Fully Charged" after a few hours.
