Getting 12v power to rear seat

I am looking for the simplest way to get a 12v power supply towards the rear of the centre console to power headrest mounted accessories (e.g. DVD player). I don’t like trailing cables from the 12V socket at the front of the console so my initial thought is to run a spur from the back of this socket with an inline fuse. Has anyone else tried this and how do you get access to the rear of the socket?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A gaggle of MB's
Here in the US there are two things : (1) a rear console 12V socket (cig lighter type) and (2) for those that have "Rear Seat Entertainment Pre-Wiring) that harness has a 12V power connection and a ground lead.

Thanks for getting back to me. I don’t have either of those options. The only electrics I can find in the rear are two USB C ports in the rear of the console so I’m back to trying to get to the connectors on the front cig socket.

Is there a 12v socket in your cargo area, above belt-line, right side?

There is a socket there. Do you think it would be easier to wire to it? I was only looking at the front socket because I thought it would be a shorter cable run and easier to conceal but happy to take any suggestions.

I don't think either of those places would be called "easy," unfortunately. I used it for a source, but I strung an extension from the back, and had to be aware as I folded the seat backs and moved the cargo cover. Not optimal.
Maybe somebody who knows about removing interior panels will chime in.

you could use the AC outlet in the rear and a converter like this if you don't want to run wires

RoyPow AC to DC Converter Power Supply Transformer 2A/24W AC/DC Adapter 110V/120V to 12V Car Cigarette Lighter Socket, Not for Pump, Inflator

Also, not sure how well this will work but they also make a usb c to cigarette socket

Thanks very much. Your solution may be the best and if I can’t get into the centre console that’s what I may do. The annoying thing is I had an ML and it had a 12v socket in the rear. I could also play my old CDs in it but that’s another story and my kids don’t see the problem😀

Again thanks very much. Unfortunately, there is no AC outlet either. I’m in the UK where we “happily” pay twice as much for everything and “accept” half the spec. As a matter of interest I checked out the box you suggested. It’s a really good idea - $12.99 on Amazon.Com and £32.99 ($45.12) on Amazon.Co.Uk. I rest my case😀.

That's too bad that they don't include that in the UK.

If you are going to run a wire from the rear, I would tap into the rear fuse panel directly using a fuse tap instead of using the 12v socket. There are plenty of empty fuse sockets there to utilize and it would be pretty easy to hide the wires.

Thanks yet again. I’ve ordered a USB C to 12v socket so I will try that first. I reckon it should be ok for just a dvd screen. If that doesn’t work I will try the rear fuse box😀😔
