Remote start problem (Maybe my house is out of coverage area?)

Just drove home a new GLE350. I noticed that none of the remote functions (start/unlock) work when I am inside the house and the car is parked outside.

Verizon has no real coverage here, AT&T is fine.

is that likely the cause of my problem?

thanks for any help!

Do you have Internet access? If you do, then you should be able to get into the app. That’s more of a registration issue with Mercedes me. If you don’t have internet access then that’s a coverage issue.

If you are outside the home with your GLE, do any of the functions work?

MB Customer Support told me when I brought home my new GLE that I might have to wait a few days for all of the Mercedes computers to talk with each other before remote functions would work.

When my GLE is in my garage, it can't get a signal from AT&T, and sometimes outside my garage it still can't get a signal so the remote functions don't work.

A gaggle of MB's
There are "bug's" in the system with the fresh update to MercedesMe Connect.. check with your selling dealer if you are fully "up"... yes. MercedesMe Connect is a ATT linked service

Can somebody explain how AT&T plays into MercedesMe?
Being "inside a garage" shouldn't affect cell coverage all that much, I wouldn't think.

AT&T is the cellphone network that Mercedes Me uses, so if the AT&T signal is poor, your Mercedes can't connect to the Mercedes Me system. This means the Mercedes Me app on your cellphone can not communicate to your Mercedes and you can't lock/unlock the doors, get status, or start the engine.

I'm in a rural area with poor cellphone signals. Being inside a garage when you are in a poor coverage area makes a big difference. In my family room, I get one bar on my AT&T cellphone and the signal is not good enough for an internet connection. In my garage, I get zero bars, and my GLE can not get a signal from AT&T. When I had my Audi, it also could not get an AT&T signal inside the garage.

Are you saying that Mercedes cars have AT&T SIM cards that are active even if you haven't activated in-car-wireless?
I thought they used a satellite signal.
Does that make SOS inactive if AT&T can't find you?

Mercedes Me (and MBrace before it) have always used cell signals, not satellite. So yes, if outside of cell range the SOS function will not work. I'm not aware of any car telematics systems that use satellite data for functionality. They all use the cell phone providers.

Mercedes cars have another connection that is used for Mercedes Me and SOS. This is separate from your in-car WiFi.

The only things that use satellite signals are the SiriusXM receiver and the GPS receiver in the navigation system.

SOS does not work if your GLE can not connect to the AT&T cellular network or to AT&T's roaming partners.
