Our GLE has the exterior lighting package. I do not notice any low speed cornering light function (as shown in the manual), is this something we lost with the package? We live in a darker development and I definitely notice not having it especially with tinted windows.

I think it was discussed in another thread that the GLE does not have cornering lights in the USA.

I just found that thread, should have done a better search before posting. Looks like no cornering lights. Hope any walkers have some bright clothing on when I'm rounding the bend.

Even with the software upload for full multi beam lighting there is no cornering light. I have the same intelligent light system in my 2018 E300 and sides light up when turning. Can't believe for the $ we pay, we don't have turning light function. MB dropped the ball big time on this.

On my cla thing it states I get cornering light I'm usa 2022 I paid 950 I'll be pissed so what's multi-beam and why is it off in usa?

Don't know if CLA has side illuminating on turns. My E300 has it. You only get auto brights with US cars. True intelligent light system is disabled in US. I uploaded software from Vladimir and have it on both my 2020 GLE and 2018 E300. Fantastic system.

I have the lighting package and the primary benefit is extra wide high beams.
When they activate, it brightens in the center and sweeps out to the corners.
have not been able to compare to a "regular" GLE
The in-laws have a 2020 GLE, so will have to compare to their version

For some reason they deleted it for the US. If you look closely at the headlamp housing you can see where the corner light is supposed to be. I am still very grateful though they did not take away the swiveling headlights.

?? The headlights do NOT swivel.

if you have the upgraded lighting package they do. They do the “dance” when you start the vehicle and above 10 MPH the lights move with steering wheel.

there may be some shaping, but the lights do not physically “swivel “ like on the W166.

yes it is different than the old model, but I can see them move. I even verified with Mercedes. Maybe I wrong then?

On the 166 and earlier, the entire assembly swiveled. Now it is fixed in place. Different LED's are activated, or the matrix changes, to get the Dancing effect or pointing into a turn.

if this is true and we only need a software update if we have the external lighting package, is that something that the dealership might do or will we need to use one of the third parties options to enable.

While the technology has been approved, there is a light output cap that is the same as put in place in the '70s. So, likely existing systems will not comply. Ahh, our government! To enable what you we have in our cars now they would have to be scientifically evaluated, then Mercedes would have to do an update. Unlikely, IMO. Best to just go 3rd party.
