My 2020 GLE’s 580 AC konked out after 6 months and the dealer says compressor replacement part has to come from Germany. It's been 1 week and still no ETA! What do y’all think the odds are that they’ll get the part b4 my lease runs out in 2023?

Don't they have a warehouse in North America that stores parts, especially for the vehicles produced here?

you would think so. something just doesn't feel right, especially with no ETA.

Good grief! Hope you don't live on the West coast and it goes through the Suez Canal!! What is the over/under on those odds, we may want to start a pool.Originally Posted by jonpom

Joking aside, I feel your pain. Hope you get it resolved before hot weather.

Odds you get a replacement compressor before your lease runs out in 2 years: 1:0Originally Posted by jonpom

Just curious, what kind of loaner did you get, considering you have a 580. Do they take it into account, or just give you whatever is available?
Hope they manage to get the part soon for you!

ExploreYes - the compressor are manufactured in the EU - and when available will come to the US by airfreight.
No - not possible to pull one from production at Vance - on a serialized part like that Compressor - what gets delivered to Vance - each one is assigned to a specific Build.- can't take a Build-Rig off-line/not-build to secure that part.
Since it is a serialized part - can't pull one from another in-stock unit I might have (580's are hen's teeth right now anyway)..
In the case of a unforeseen problem like this one - when the Repair is completed - under MBFS Lease or MBFS Finance - I suggest the Customer call Customer Care and ask Customer Care to give them Compensation for that time down equal to what they have paid MBFS during that time - and "yes" I have seen MB authorize MBFS on select cases to credit their MBFS account - or I have seen MB thru MBFS cut a check.
If that the MBUSA/MBFS things doesn't happen for the customer - then from dealer side - I offer to trade-in their rig One-Month-Earlier for a New MB - 1 mo earlier than any MBFS payment credits to move forward.. so you would have one MBFS or one MBFS loan payment to move up one month earlier.
Fair-should be Fair.... especially for Leased MB's..

I understand why they can’t pull one from the assembly line at Vance. But should produce spare parts to warehouse for these emergencies

Thanks for confirming what I have been considering as well re: MBFS. BTW, dealer (who is not where I purchased GLE) loaned me a GLB. I really don't mind since it gave me an opportunity to appreciate GLE. Glad I did not originally lease a GLB. BIG, BIG difference and well worth the price deferential!Originally Posted by fabbrisd1

After a long list of other problems my A/C compressor just went out on my 580. Have you gotten update as to when it will be repaired? I dropped mine off at the dealership this morning. No update yet.

Just got my 580 back after 5 long (and lonely) weeks! Best part is that I appreciate GLE all the more and well worth the 2x MSRP vs my GLB loaner. World of difference!!
