At one time there was a thing called Car Wash Mode. It is in my manual but no longer available through MBUX. Is this a recent software change or did I just wake up to it?

 

I have it in my car.

 

I just noticed it, it's still in my 2021 GLE 450

 

I've never seen it.

 

I use it all the time, but admittedly, the picture looks like a car with a trailer behind it so at first I didn’t realize that was the car wash mode! When you press the vehicle button in the center console that looks like a car, the first page should be quick access buttons. In my GLE 63S it is the last picture. Make sure you press it on and it will shut wipers, all doors/windows/roof, shut off sensors and fold in mirrors then raises car to high level. Hope this helps!

Automatic car wash mode In car wash mode, the vehicle is prepared for driving into the automatic car wash. Car wash mode can be activated at a speed of up to 12 mph (20 km/h) (/ page 462). Maintenance and care 461The following settings are made when car wash mode is activated: R The outside mirrors are folded down. R The rain sensor is deactivated to prevent the windshield washer system from starting up automatically. R The rear window wiper is deactivated. R The air conditioning system is set to air-recir‐ culation mode. R Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is deactivated. R Vehicles with 360° Camera: the front image is activated after approx. eight sec‐ onds. R Vehicles with AIRMATIC: the vehicle is raised to the maximum possible chassis level(/ page 231). If rising takes longer than 25 seconds, the following message appears on the multifunc‐ tion display: Preparation for Automatic Car Wash Incomplete See Media Display. After some time, the vehicle automatically continues rising. R Vehicles with E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL: the vehicle is raised to the maximum possi‐ ble chassis level(/ page 243). If rising takes longer than 25 seconds, the following message appears on the multifunc‐ tion display: Preparation for Automatic Car Wash Incomplete See Media Display. After some time, the vehicle automatically continues rising. If one of the settings cannot be selected, this is displayed by a % behind the respective set‐ ting. Above a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h) car wash mode is automatically deactivated. The following settings are reset when car wash mode is deactivated: R The outside mirrors are folded out. R The rain sensor is activated. R The rear window wiper is activated. R The air conditioning system is set to fresh air mode. R Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is reset to the previously selected setting. R Vehicles with 360° Camera: the front image is deactivated at speeds above 11 mph (18 km/h). R Vehicles with AIRMATIC: the vehicle is low‐ ered to the previously set chassis level. R Vehicles with E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL: the vehicle is lowered to the previously set chassis level. Activating/deactivating automatic car wash mode Requirements: R The vehicle is stationary. R The engine is running. Multimedia system: 4 © 5 Settings 5 Quick Access Activating automatic car wash mode # Select Automatic Car Wash Mode. # Select Start.

 

Thanks for the replies. It's just not there. It is not on my Quick Access screen. I will be due for my first B maintenance in two months. I'll talk with the dealer then.

 

Related to Car Wash issue, my GLE53 with 21 inch wheels and Conti tires will not fit in the tire track guides (max 12.5 inch) for MISTER CAR WASH or GOO GOO CAR WASH. Guess someone is telling the to keep hand washing. Anyone have a work-around for this?

 

Its not in the quick access menu unless you go to one of the sub menu’s...buried in one of the selections...maybe vehicle settings. Look around it’s there.

 

I have it in my 2021 GLE450 SUV and it works great. Especially for the COVID drive-through test site, the short tester lady could see up my nose without squatting when I used the car wash mode.

 

I do have it in the Quick Access menu.

 

My 350 does not have it. I have the Parking Assist Package, Exterior Lighting Package, and Premium Package. Judging by your signature it must be part of the Technology Package or Intelligent Drive Package.

 

My 2020 GLE350 4Matic has the MUX Technology Package (DA0), Drivers Assistant Package (DA2), and the Parking Assistant Package (DA3).

I DO NOT have a car wash mode icon on my Quick Access Menu or anywhere else for the matter, never have.

My guess is it's only available on GLE's that can raise/lower the suspension ride height.

 

I have the off road pack with air suspension and it isn't on my car - UK

 

Mine doesn't have the air suspension ride but has the car wash mode !!

 

I wonder if it's dependent on what software you have?

2021 450 mine has it.

 

2021 GLE350, have the feature, although at one point the button "expands" and cover the entire bottom, about the size of the 3 buttons above it, and grayed out. That happened once, and never again.

 

We just purchased a used 2021 GLE350 4 Matic and it does not have the carwash feature. Per dealer it came as part of a package and the software/firmware is not updateable to include this feature. Dont have any way to confirm that. Anyone know how to hack the system so this feature works.

Do you have the Drivers Assistance Package?

 

I hope no one puts the GLE through a car wash with rags or brushes scraping the heck out of your car and paint?
I won’t use even the brushless ones. That’s just me!
I’ll do the do it yourself ones in winter or wash it myself at home.

I have the Drivers Assistance Package and no Car Wash Mode. I also have Technology, Parking Assist, and Premium 1 packages.

 

“Part of a package” doesn’t sound right since I t’s a software switch. What version of MBUX are you running? My guess would be that you don’t have the latest version with the update.
