Purchased my GLE350 in October of 2020 and took it in for it's first service today and spent 1089.00 for service A at Mercedes Benz of Miami. Did I overpay for a glorified oil change? My service advisor advised me that Service B is much more expensive. Those of you who drive GLE350 how much did you pay for your service??? please note I am coming from Jaguar were my first three services were included with car purchase. Last car was a 2017 Fpace.

Not sure how to upload and this make this bigger. Dealer did discount my uber each way that's why the total is $1025.00 and not 1089.00 as originally quoted.

I don't remember the exact amount, but my first "A" service was performed this past April It was less than $350 and that included Pennsylvania state inspection and emissions test which is around $85 alone.

$1100 sounds expensive for an oil change and “checks”. Possibly also wipers. Still expensive.

Wait……. Service isn’t included? I’m going in next week for my first service A. I already had state inspection so that doesn’t have to get done. What exactly would I be paying for. My 2020 GLE (received in May of 2020) only has 2100 miles on it.
***mine is a lease if that matters at all.

You can find the service A & B list by Googling for your specific model. B includes more fluid changes, cabin filter, etc. The wipers every year seem like overkill and some models can’t have a tire rotation, no grease job…no reason to be that expensive.

My First Service was just an oil change basically and it was less than $300 bucks.. oil change plus hazzard waste. I also got my cabin filter replaced for free.. Wiper was optional. Post your invoice.. .

The Service A checklist includes:

• Mercedes-Benz Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement
• Oil filter replacement
• All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on Mercedes-Benz maintenance schedule intervals for your vehicle’s year and model.
• Tire inflation check and correction
• Brake component inspection
• Reset maintenance counter

But there’s a charge for this? Every service on my previous Jaguar and 2 Audis before that always had complimentary service for life of lease.
plus like I said…. There’s only 2100 miles on the car. Unless oil has to be changed every year regardless of mileage.

Yes, I do not remember when MB did away with this but it was a few years ago. Your MB dealer does give you an optional service package for oil changes, brakes, etc., A maintenance plan you pay for upfront that's discounted.

As for Leased MB's i have no idea.. never leased one, but i assume it is the same.

I would be interested in seeing how they glorify a $50.00 in materials oil change to $1089.00. Miami is competitive and there should be dozens of independent shops that will do it for 10% of that. Post a copy with your personal information covered.

$1088 for a schedule A?!? Yes, you were taken to the cleaners! Should be ~$300, which is still expensive.

When i purchased mine, I asked how much the first service cost was. They said the same, $1088. I laughed and said, I could find a better deal on an oil change, as I can't rotate my tires. Also, can buy internal and external air filters for much less online and install myself. What a rip off the Florida dealers are all in on.

Also, every other vehicle I have ever owned, has included service for the lease term. I am starting to regret my first Mercedes purchase.

It's not just Florida based on what I read on this site. I know plenty of people who pay upwards of 4K for a three-year maintenance plan because they believe it has to be done by the dealer to maintain the warranty.

You regret the purchase because you failed to inform yourself about the ongoing operating costs related to a high value asset? Like you, I’ve always had maintenance included in the lease, but ridiculously expensive oil changes aren’t a surprise with the German brands. Doesn’t everyone know that?

Edit to say that I believe BMW has started to include regular maintenance in recent years.

I mean I know dealerships charge an arm and a leg for services, but $1100 is seriously off the charts on overpriced service. I'm in So Cal with many dealerships around here and I sometimes do some shopping on the services. Every dealer is different, but the first service A for my GLS was $200-250 and other dealerships were comparable. Sounds like they just ripped you off for not knowing the service prices. I can't imagine them replacing anything that needs a $1100 service on the first A service.

Service B will cost you 2k😂 and that’s without the wiper blades which will cost you another 1k😂🤣.
My mother is 75 and just did her service A on her E350 for $295 and that was still to expensive I told her.
Please provide copy of service A invoice or your blowing smoke newbie.

My dealer told me not to buy the prepaid maintenance as their service prices were lower than the cost of the prepaid maintenance.

I'd compare those figures. Maybe today they're lower but the prepaid plan locks in the costs for however many services you buy.

I compared them. There's no comparison, prepaid is 2-3 times higher overall.

I talked with the service manager and he said that unless you have the fancy wipers the service plan is about the same as the regular charges for the scheduled maintenance. He said the wipers alone, though, made it much more reasonable as they (on replacement) could be close to $300.

edit: he did say there were two reasons to pre-pay, get that maintenance into the loan, and knowing that (aside from the attempt to upsell service) the scheduled maintenance is paid already before going in...
