Paint Chips on Hood - 2021 GLE 350 Black
Anyone else having issues with paint chips on their hood? Purchased car in April and have noticed that I keep getting small chips in the paint on my hood. I touched up a couple in the beginning, but at this rate I will end up with little dots all over my hood. Is this paint soft or a warranty issue?

As far as I know, the solid paint is soft. I tried to have them touch up a few of the paint chips when I first got my E class and they would not do it under warranty. On a side note, MB glass is very soft and the windshields chip easily.

Is you GLE paint metallic black or solid black? The reason why I ask is because I noticed the metallic paints are stronger than the solid paints. Prior to my GLE I had an E300 that was polar white (solid) and it had many paint chips on the front bumper and hood by the time the lease was up. My mother's S550 that was diamond white (metallic) held up much better. I am noticing the same with my obsidian black metallic GLE and it is holding up very well. Get a wrap at least to the A pillars.

Xpel factory store was $1299 (less 10% repeat customer) for full front and mirrors on mine. I had them do the rear bumper in place of the chrome protection piece-$79.

Where are you finding these prices? I got a price quote of $2500 (for my 2018 E300) -- and that is not even for the entire car! Anyone know someone good in the NY/NJ/CT area for a reasonable price? Thanks.

Every dealer will quote you different prices. Around Annapolis MD, I have found it as cheap as 1495 to 2 grand for the front half. Most want 3K installed for a full car wrap of XPEL. Make sure it is XPEL and not a cheap knockoff. It is warranted for 10 years and won't yellow or come up. If it does, you can get it repaired under warranty.
