Looks like it’s my turn
There were keys on his desk already for a GLE 450 for the exact same problem and he said he has seen it several times, but mentioned that none of the ones replaced have come back a second time for it. Also, my concerns for a loaner came true. There were no loaners available this morning. He said they normally have around 100 loaners on site and they are down to about 50. Due to shortages the sales team has sold a lot of their normal loaner vehicles. They setup an Uber ride for me and said they will have a loaner available this afternoon.
I just hope that if my 48V fails, that it does so when I'm close to home and not thousands of miles away.

If you have something to provide, please provide it. Thank you.

I'm going on a trip next week through a lot of rural Nevada…fingers crossed.

Also, I found someone has filed a class action lawsuit in NJ with a complaint that sounds like this issue.

Mercedes Road Side Assistance is going to send someone to try to jump start it, but based off of what I’ve read on these forums I’m not very hopeful it will work. I’ll let everyone know if it’s that easy.
If it happens close to home, to me it would be no different than a dead 12V battery. Sure, it will take several days to get it fixed but between the loaner and our second car, I don't foresee it as a huge deal.

is there a sticky forum for these 48v battery failures? If not Would it make sense to have one so we can document it with our build dates models and year?
as a first time mb buyer it kinda has me bummed

I wish I had an answer but I don’t. Is it widespread enough to warrant cancelling an order? I wouldn’t, but others would. I recently cancelled an order for a GLE 63S but did it because too many options were no longer available and it was looking like another December delivery. My GLE 53 is just fine…love the car but why not get the V8 engine? Now the E Performance Hybrid might be coming in a year or two or ???, so what to do?
Each failed battery has to cost Mercedes $7-8+K adding up the rush shipping, towing, installation labor and cost of the battery-so it would definitely be a high priority. The GLE is a high volume vehicle so I’m guessing your thought about “one guy” might be closer than that they will all fail. It’s a major issue so more users are going to look for answers and more will post. The minor “whistling mirror” got a lot more posts than the battery.
