2nd Row seats not reclining correctly

Hi all

First post. Long time stalker.

I have a 2021 build GLE 300d with the 7 seat option.

The 2nd row seats did, but now do not, recline back to the same angle. When reclined (loose use of the term, they don't recline, but in their normal seated position) the bench (2x) seat is not as reclined back as the individual seat. Its not a huge issue as there are car seats in there most of the time, but when they are removed, there is a notiable 2.2cm (1 inch) difference between the angles resulting in an offset at the top of the seats where they meet.

Has anyone had a similar issue and resolved it?

The car is under warranty, but its just a bit of a hassle getting to the dealer, so if anyone has an 'at home remedy', that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dan.

Recently I had the same issue where the 2nd row seats did not recline to same position but I think the issue was the seats were not at the same horizontal position. I adjusted the seats horizontally and the reclining positions appear to the the same now.

What do you mean they don’t recline? They should. Are you saying the seat recline switch on the rear doors aren’t working anymore? The rear seats should be 6-way power adjustable. Forward/aft, seat back angle, headrest height. If they are not, then something is wrong.

The switches on the door work. Its the range of recline that is different. at fully reclined, one of the seats (the individual in the 1-2 break up) reclines all the way back so there is no gap on the side of the seat (where the seat belt is) and the middle and other side seat doesn't recline back to the same angle, therefore leaving a gap of a few cm at the top where the other seats almost touches the side of the car.

It appears I will have to take it to the Dealer.

thanks All.

Thanks, I did check that, but it didn't assist. Thanks for your comment though.

I had this problem with ours. Took it to the dealer and they did something and now it’s correct. I think they said there is a tsb about it. Sorry I don’t have more info.

Thanks. That gave me the info I was looking for.

The relevant TSB is at https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...87783-9999.pdf (i think, at least it is the issue that i have)

i will take it to the dealer, but good to know it is fixable.

thanks.

Thank you for providing the TSB, DFB1234! The fix doesn't appear to be a quick fix so guess I'll wait until I need additional work to take it in.

UPDATE:

I used the seat top buttons, put both seats in the third row access position and then back, and both were able to be returned to the correct position and angle. No idea why, but I'll take it.
