I have the GLE450 2021 with Acoustic comfort package which supposedly should be able to reduce outside noise for a quieter cabin.

I have tested sound decibels on mine which has the package and a loaner car that doesn’t have Acoustic package and I didn’t find no difference in the sound the cabin makes. They are equally making Same amount of noise.


what is your feedback on this issue ? Are you guys having same issue ? Please let me know.

The laminated glass has to reduce sound as well as reflect the Sun. Testing sound is probably going to entail more than just a simple decibel meter. There are different sound frequencies that will be blocked more than others. Then there are outside variables such as wind, seal coated road tire noise and speed related, etc. I do notice less wind noise with Acoustic but I bought it for the reflective qualities.

While I agree it’s hard to tell (wife has a GLE w/o this, and it’s tomb-silent), it could play a part a higher speeds perhaps where the wind tends to make more noise. Not sure.

Agree with @Ron.s The reflective properties on this are great. My 53 gets noticeably less toasty in the Texas sun then previous vehicles I’ve had to date. Even with pano roof.

I have it and I love it. It keeps the GLE noticeably cooler compared to other SUVs I've owned. It also keeps the cabin quieter, especially at higher speed and it also muffles somewhat the engine/exhaust sounds.

The acoustic package will affect radar detectors and toll passes. There are only a few places on the windscreen to mount these items.

Where do you guys mount the Toll pass on the windshield, No matter where i try my EZpass doesnt work.

There are two places where it will work. One is to the right of the rearview mirror and the other one is centered about 4" above the dashboard. You can see the outline of these by looking at a lit background, the area w/o shielding has faint yellow crosshatches

I saw those lines and I kept hold of the pass when i approached ezpass gate but it didnt read.Probably because I was holding it.I will try mounting them using a 2 way sticker so that if it doesnt work i can remove easily.Thank you Bud

I don't even mount mine, as I have the license plates tied to the account so it charges toll regardless.

I've mounted my EZ pass in both spots to no avail. I've also replaced the EZ pass thinking the original one had an issue. But the new EZ pass still can't be read. I spoke to EZ pass about it and they said as long as my plate is tied to my account, I should be fine. They also suggested the exterior/ license plate reader, but was told you can only have 4 EZ passes on 1 account, so I have to mail in 1 interior transponder before they would send me the exterior. But is the exterior "safe"-- Could it fall off, is it unsightly, could it be stolen, etc....?

In Texas we use a simple sticker with an RFID chip inside instead of a big block. We’ll see how that gets affected because I ordered the Acoustic package as well.

I has the same experience - could not find a spot on windshield where the EZ Pass could be read. I tried both the spots indicated in the manual. I did get a license plate mounted EZ Pass transponder. I screws into top 2 screws holding the front license plate. It is not that large and black - blends in you really do not notice it. As to having is stolen? I guess someone could unscrew and take it...so far I'm happy with it.

Mine had the tint when I bought it, but I’m thinking it was more for looks than anything else, and I’m not complaining.

had the acoustic comfort package on my 20 GLC AMG 43 and on my current GLE 450. its a very quiet vehicle which the 43 was not but for me the package is worth the price.

I changed the EZ Pass Transponder, Changed mounting locations as suggested in the Manual nothing helps

Have it on my 2021 AMG GLE 63s Coupe. It is quiet which is nice but it blocks the GPS signal on my remote radar/laser jammers. It makes using a separate gate opener a PITA, and worst of all it severely dampens the great exhaust notes on the car.

If none of that bothers you then get it.

I didn't have a choice because I was lucky to get the car I have and beggars can't be choosers.

I have it and it’s a pain to mount a radar detector. I have no problem with garage or gate openers. I have my Homelink programmed for my home opener and gate+garage door at my second home. Recently I did two AB&B rentals and had no problem with handheld garage door openers either. The windshield doesn’t seem to shorten the range either.
Initially my radar detector was almost worthless until I moved it to the proper location.
All that said, I probably wouldn’t get it again. My prior GLE 450 without the Laminate was cool inside & quiet so I didn’t even tint it as per usual. I’m sure it makes a difference so YOMV.
