some RJ Upgrade eye Candy for my 2021 GLE 450. So my son and I were driving kind of aggressively in sport + today (no joking) it’s definitely fairly more aggressive than sports mode and exhaust (maybe in my head) sounds louder maybe because of higher standing revs. Adaptive cruise works awesome and the AMG screens are fun even if they show the same stuff. I posted pics for all.

RJ did my coding yesterday (Intelligent High Beam, Enable Sport+/Snow Mode, Sport+ Default Mode, AMG Menus in MBUX and Energizing Comfort Enable). Certainly don't think it was my imagination that the exhaust sounds more aggressive now (both starting and driving). Fuel efficiency appeared to suffer but it was more fun driving. Might be my imagination but suspension did seem stiffer.

With the high beam enabled, didn't notice the light animation anymore but it does appear road is brighter in most cases. Love that I don't have to set my mode every time I start my car now.

Wished I had the coding done sooner.

Love that AMG instrument cluster but it cost 5 credits - did you get anything else with this?

Actually I meant if anything else came with the AMG instrument panel coding that cost 5 credits?

Hi, not that I’m aware or figured out yet. I’d check wit Raj to be sure. He responds quickly and the extra coding credits don’t add that much. My adaptive cruise came with some credits I believe. I’m super happy overall with it so far.

From your pic, I see you have an AMG Performance menu in the driver/left hand screen that I don't have. So the AMG instrument cluster probably also added this feature.

To those of you who did the high beam modification, did you notice any increase in the brightness of the head lights? I thought I had read some time ago that our govt. regulations limit the light output and that euro head lights are twice as bright as US. Thanks.

Interested on this as well. I read that the headlights will adjust when the wipers are on, when the rear fog lights are on, etc. which I don't think is happening with the US spec. Can those who have it also confirm that the light beam also "portion out" the incoming traffic and blinding road signs when the auto high beam is enabled and high beam is applied?

Not sure about the increase in brightness, but I found overall visibility to be better. I can actually see rectangular portions that are blacked out where cars are in front of me. These blacked out areas move to follow car positions.

FYI

Interesting read.

If you find the left is higher, please book a session in with us and we will rectify this with a fix.

Wondering if Raj @rjautomotive has the ability to program the rear tail lights to blink amber for the turn signal. I was behind a face-lifted GLC Coupe the other day and theirs blink nice amber on the bottom part of the tail light and boy was I envious lol. I noticed the GLE has that white bottom part that I swear it's for the amber turn signals. Haven't found any clips from non US vehicle yet to prove this but thought I'd ask here.

Raj, is there anything we need to do to help check the aiming of the left and right headlamp? I checked early in the morning and can't really tell if the aiming are off.
Thanks.

Raj,

US delivered cars display temperatures in Fahrenheit, and switching to Celsius is not possible. But cars in other markets have settings to allow this switch. Is it possible to allow it in a US delivered GLE? I come from Australia and my brain is wired in C.

Thanks!

There is a 'units' setting in the overall app that is not vehicle related. I'm pretty sure the settings in the mercedes me app carry over to the vehicle as that is where I set my clock to read as 24h.

As a Canadian living in the US, I have the same question. The units setting for temperature in the Mercedes Me app doesn't carry over to the car, and the MBUX setting for units in the car itself only has a toggle for mph vs km/h.

Correct, I have temperature set to C on the app but the car itself only shows F with no option to change it.

The other thing I notice on US delivered cars is that the variable speed limiter is not available. In other markets that's a standard feature of the cruise control system but it doesn't seem to be on any US spec cars, we've had 3 Mercedes here and none of them or any loaners had it. I used it a lot in my 2003 c-class back in Australia.

The cruise control system is able to be switched from maintaining a set speed to allowing you to accelarate up to but not beyond a set speed.

Imagine the speed limit is 65mph but traffic and conditions mean your actual speed varies between 30 and 65mph, in that case cruise is useless and even the system that reads signs etc. is not helpful. With the variable speed limiter you set the max speed to 65mph (or a little over....) and you can drive the car normally but when you get close to the set speed it won't accelerate any more. Of course for safety reasons you can over-ride it using kickdown on the accelerator pedal. It's standard on Mercedes outside the US and some other brands have it too, like Renault.

Thanks for the explanation! Not sure I'd use it but I'd have to try it to see.

Just had my RJA coding session, I had the AMG instrument cluster and Sport+ option installed. The process was painless and got done with no issues. I took the car for a spin and all I can say is WOW ! Throttle response is vastly improved in Sport+ mode. I didn't hear any difference in the exhaust, I'm sure our Canadian GLEs have the most basic setup so I wasn't expecting much there anyway. The AMG cluster is amazing, lots of new options to play with. I highly recommend this to anyone who is considering coding options.
