When trying to locate your vehicle, does anyone else's mercedes me app start in Germany before it finds your vehicle? One would think it would default to the user profile location or the location from where you're searching from. It never used to do that. Just another minor annoyance of the app I guess.

Mine does that too. I'm guessing that the app is set to start in Berlin while it is loading the actual vehicle location info and map info. In my case, it takes a quick trip across the Atlantic Ocean to my vehicle in South Central Pennsylvania. I guess they could just have a slower start up and go directly to my vehicle location.

It's a lot speedier than the old app, which took a minute or three, or more, to locate the car.
Now they've added an animation to the splash screen. Pretty fancy, if you ask me!

I don't think it actually starts in Germany. It looks like it starts all the way zoomed out at a world map view and then zooms in to the actual location. Just looks like it starts in Germany. It zooms in so quickly for me that I didn't even pay attention to this until now.

I wish I could say that is what mine does but it most definitely starts in Germany

Sounds like yours behaves differently. The zooming on mine only occurs if the app is started fresh anyway. If it's resumed from the background then it's already on the last known position of the car and if the car has moved it quickly zooms in on the new location. Are you on Android or iOS? I'm on iOS.

I tried on both Android and iOS and the behavior is different. On Android, the map clearly starts zoomed in on Berlin, then zooms out, pans to the US, and zooms in to your location. On iOS it starts zoomed out (centered around South Africa) then pans to the US and zooms in.

Don't think it's a big deal either way though :P

Mine also does this and I agree. Not an issue as it literally does this in a fraction of a second.

I've never seen Germany as the starting point, but mine starts out with a view of Africa/Europe centered over Western Africa

i understand it does not impact anything when using this feature. Seeing the app never used to do this, but I'll need to check while opening from being in the background, is an odd behavior. As some have stated, it does locate my location or the vehicle location promptly.

I think this started with the latest app update from last week (or the week before.)

I'm sure that's what it's from. I think I updated within the past week or so.

It’s all part of the animation of the app. Think how boring it would be if it actually started at your location. There would have been no reason for this thread.

Here's what the animation is like on Android, clearly not starting at 0,0

Interesting. Android and Apple must process it seperately
