2022 GLE 350
Question 2022 or 2023 GLE350W

I just placed a custom order for 2022 GLE 350 last week and today the dealer texted me 2023 GLE350W is open for order. My 2022 is coming in early August and 2023 will come around late October or early November. I ordered the 21 Twin 5 Spoke Wheels on my 2022 and it won't be available on 2023 model without adding the AMG package. Is it worth switching from 2022 to 2023 model? The sooner I have my car is the better tho. Pleas advise! Thank you everyone!

Since there are no enhancements in 2023 (only removals), functionally there's no difference. The main concern would be depreciation. When you sell the car, even though they were manufactured only 1 month apart with same set of features, MY23 will be valued more than MY22.

If you keep your cars long time, condition may make more difference in resale value than the model year, but unless there's a money incentive I'd obviously prefer the 23

If you are leasing, it may not make a difference. But I would definitely check with the f&I people to see how the residual value may be affected. It is possible that you'd have a lower lease payment with the current model year. Probably not, but it's worth checking.

I don't think anyone is leasing right now. Probably some kind of price increase on the 23's. For the Section 179 people you may not get a 23 before the end of the year.

If you are keeping the vehicle for +5 years get the 22. If you will change the vehicle before warranty expires get the newer one as long as it will be the same build and same cost.

Lots of people lease cars, and if they do, it's worth comparing total cost (residuals and money factor; payments and total cost). The '23 might be cheaper, or not. It would be good information to have.

What's a Section 179 person? Are they a significant portion of the buyers?

Have you looked at a GLE lease recently? MBFS has stopped subsidising all leases. MF's way up residuals down.

Section 179 is pretty steady. Most people try to buy in the last couple of months of the year. Gonna be tough with inventories the way they are.

No, I haven't looked, which is why I suggested people in the market check it out. Things change monthly or even more often.

What's a Section 179? Sounds like a punishment 🙂

Actually they don't. Not anymore. Our leasing business has pretty much dried up. There's gonna be a huge hole in lease returns and used car sales in 2.5 to 3 yrs.

Section 179 refers to the part of the tax code that allows business owners to deduct the cost of an SUV with a GVWR of over 6,000 lbs.

Thank you for all of your replies. I decided to wait 3 more months to get the MY23. I am planning to drive the car for 4-5 years and then trade it in to get a new one. Therefore, MY23 will hold much better value even though they are basically the same.

I have a 2022 GLE 350 4Matic with the 21” twin 5 spoke wheels. I can say without any
reservations that the wheels are freaking huge; you can’t rotate them as the fronts are smaller; and to be quite honest, in the future I would forgo paying for 21” tires. I suggest considering the additional cost of the 2023 with your preferred options. and the stick with the 18” or 19” tires. As, I am now inclined to believe owners in this forum who suggest that smaller tires have a better ride.
