Also, nice fat raised "lip" that will protect the edge of the outer rim. The OE Yokohamas had this, and it did offer protection against small curb rubs a few times. Nice to see this. (Nittos did not have it).
Those in 21" are what my are came with and I love them as well. Plenty of grip even when driven hard, quiet and comfortable. I'm getting excellent mileage from them also.

Glad to hear Greg. And them being A/S, I’m hoping they’ll last longer than the Yokohama OE summers (14k miles).

Those A8A line Scorpion A/S are the same tires I had installed on our 580 (see post from July) -- they have been amazing and because there's no Mercedes branded all season in 22" this is a fantastic alternative (even has the acoustic dampening).

The only all-seasons available costs $900 a tire lol. The “normal’ summer tires costs $600 to $900 per tire.

That’s just crazy…. Not sure what’s going on with this size. I assume—based on the fact that they’re so expensive with most of them on back order—that this size is not used much.
After talking to MB Tires, Pirelli, Discount Tires customer service, and my local Discount tire store, and combing through numerous forum posts, I've been able to gather the following information: Pirelli has discontinued their current all season tire and are coming out with a new and improved product (which they've begun to market) about 60 to 90 days from now. MB Tires has had a backlog on the rear all season tires since May, and are only allocated 24 tires when the new ones are released. HOWEVER, I learned that we CAN install the front tire size (285/40/22) on the rear rims, even though the rear rims are 1 inch wider. I've confirmed through a number of sizing tools that the overall diameter and sidewall height will continue to be the same. And while one might not get quite the cornering traction under track style racing, this is a non issue for normal spirited driving. The good news is not only the availability of a variety of tires in the front size, but also improved wet traction, a quieter ride, and according to one individual, less of that rocking motion on hydraulic suspensions, and less tire noise. I also confirmed with my local Discount Tire as well as Discount Tire customer service that this setup meets specs and they'll install accordingly. I've ordered my favorite tire, the Michelin PS Sport All Season which is getting installed next Monday afternoon in the same size as the front all the way around on my current 22 inch AMG staggered rims. I'll report the results a few days later. Side note: I've had a couple of chats with the Discount Tire customer service reps, and their customer service is AWESOME! Same with my local store.

Thank you for sharing! I would have never thought the rear rims could accommodate the same tire as the front. Hopefully this setup doesn't leave the rim sticking out beyond the tire with no protection from a slight curb bump. Looking forward to seeing your pics of the installation. I may consider this option once my current Pirelli Scorpion all seasons are worn out.

I'm a bit concerned about curb rash as well, but frankly, even with my current setup with wider tires in the back, my rims all the way around aren't very well protected. But then I don't have any business parking too close to a curve anyhow.

just a question

when we are talking about 22 inch tires,

GLE, GLS, Maybach SUV they all have different 22 inch rims, but they can have the same tires?

Lol. Agreed. I'm sure we are all super careful when parking near curbs however, despite our best efforts, there are times when I've been glad for that 1/8 of an inch of rubber that saved my rim from being nicked. There isn't much protection as it is, but there is a little. My concern is with the front tires mounted, hopefully the rim doesn't extend out beyond the rubber. I've seen that before and there is no forgiveness there. Just for reference, this is how my rear rims sit in the 325 tires.

There's definitely a variety of rims for not only various models, but also for variations of the same model. Mine are the 22 inch AMG wheels, which apparently are the most expensive choice. I bought the car used, not being aware of the difficulty of getting all season tires for the back wheels. Had I been ordering the car brand new, I would have gone for non-staggered 20 inch rims, which provides a lot more tire choices at lower prices. If I want a race car, I wouldn't buy an suv.

Given a choice of nicking my rim versus sliding into a ditch on black ice, I choose the the nick.

Agree 100%. This is why despite having all seasons on my 22" rims I also invested in full out 21" winters which are currently installed on the car. The all seasons were put on only so I don't have to rush and worry in the fall to get the winters installed right away.

swapped the factory Yokohama max performance summers at 4000 miles for the Pirelli all seasons. Got the fronts from the MB dealer a bit cheaper than TR, and got the rears from a dealer in Italy off eBay for a little under $800 each. Worth every penny. Quieter, smoother ride, way better wet grip. Love them.

Availability is a seasonal thing.
The availability of 22" winter (or AS) tires is very limited after September or so, every year, and the only ones left seem to be the Lamborghini spec tires that are almost double the MO spec tires. Ya wait and ya get no choice!

This thread pops up annually.

Michelin Pilot Sport All season 285/40/22 on all rims (10” front 11” rear). Looks good, quieter, less rocking, handle great. I’m thrilled.

Looks amazing! Definitely consider that option next time. Are the tires 22" or 23"? Your post says 285/40/23.
