Factory extended warranty on a 2022...

Factory extended warranty on a 2022...
Supposedly there is a 15% surcharge later if you don't purchase it within thirty days. Now most likely I won't keep the car for four years. However having the extended warranty to cash out later or offer as an inducement for someone to buy my car is always nice. My concern is it's possible down the road that MB could really up the price and/or drop the length and mileage of the coverage. Right now I can get 3 years with either 75 or 100k miles. Any pros or cons and what are your thoughts? Thanks

With inflation it's likely the price will be greater down the road. Will MB refund the full price before the factory warranty expires? I have no idea. The point of info I can provide is when I bought my first Mercedes in 2013, the extended warranty option up to 7yrs/100K total was available. I seriously doubt that is going away. Also the MSRP goes up 15% but dealer cost only goes up by 5% after 30 days.
Then again if you are unlikely to keep the car 4yrs, why buy the warranty? Cash in your pocket is better. However you have a GLE 63S. A vehicle with a thunderous V8 living on borrowed time in a world where EV's are seen as the future. A Mercedes exec said the V8 shall live on until at least 2030, so I wouldn't consider this your last option for an exciting German SUV dinosaur. However if you want to get maximum life out of it and then move on, by all means buy the warranty and never look back.

You can no longer get a refund on unused warranty according to several members in an older post. I assume that a new owner will still be able to use it but you might check with the Dealer. IMO, it’s only a decent price if you live in a larger Metro area with high service costs.

I was going to buy one but after careful consideration I decided against simply because I’ve never owned a car more than three years. I’ll likely get an upgrade itch before I get the economic satisfaction of this warranty.
