They are nowhere near as bad as Consumer Report's most reliable rated cars.
There is reason to keep modern cars under warranty as they age.
At least they don't have intermediate shaft bearings....

Hello just had the same issue, dealership replaced on warranty.

Hello, I just experienced the same issue in my GLE350 RWD 2021. Was replaced by the warranty. Does this problem occur again even after replacing?
Thank you!

2021 GLE350 RWD Cylinder head and ticking engine sound.

Hello, I recently experienced a similar problem. The dealership replaced the cylinder head under the CPO warranty. As a lifelong Mercedes-Benz owner and loyal to the brand, I’m very disappointed.

Noise from the valves or a rattling sound is quite annoying, and there’s a noticeable kick in the engine when turning it on or off, and burning oil, I noticed all that before and after cylinder head was replaced.

I’m wondering if this is normal sound, similar to diesel trucks?

Does MBUSA offer an extended warranty on cylinder heads after they’ve already been replaced?

Has anyone else had the cylinder head replaced and encountered any issues again?
Any recommendation after having the cylinder head replacement? I read online it's said recommend to do an oil change at 100-300 miles after cylinder head replacement, how accurate is that?

Attached video.

I really appreciate all the information.

From what I've seen it those 2 videos are bad Valve leaks. not sure why their required to replace the whole head unless it a materials issue, on the valve guides and seals. I know there was a short Recall on the GLA and GLC engines. My GLE has been running strong with 68K miles on it. But I don't have a heavy foot on it either. I recognize it a very heavy vehicle that 4 banger is moving around.

Sounds like an exhaust leak. Manifold gasket?

148,000 on this one. Yes have had many issues including the dreaded dash removal to replace the evaporator but have never had a valve or piston or cylinder head issue. I admit biggest issue is with the 25,000 life of the run flat tires and several batteries giving up.

MB is taking some action: 15 years / 150,000 miles warranty for 4-bangers if your vehicle is in the affected list. GLE V167 is covered.

I had mine replaced in Feb or March 2023 and my engine is starting to run pretty rough again. I am praying it makes it long enough for me to get rid of. I often smell oil burning and the shakiness is very annoying and somewhat concerning.

thanks for the heads up on the warranty extension. It'll give me some piece of mind even though I'm pretty gentle on my GLE

I just had the same. Engine blew. Cost 16k to replace. 65k miles.
A member on Facebook shared that Canada has issued an extended warranty on these parts.
US has not done the same yet. This is an issue and I'm pursuing a class action lawsuit as it has defrauded us with engines that fail far before any comparable engine.
My ended up having metal in the oil filter so it was a total loss. This issue is getting worse as these vehicles age.

Look at the date of the notice. IT was just a week ago. I would copy that notice and give it to you attorney or your MB Service management. that AC evaporator should be recalled too. You're like the 3rd person I've heard with that issue, they have to pull the dash to get to that thing.
